Ever thought of opening a chippy, Chelston? Those chips on your shoulder could surely be put to better use So that explains the erratic driving in South Devon does it...teary-eyed locals drinking in the scenery?

Blunt assessment - talking bollocks more like. As least we're rid of the likes of you*. Hope I never see you riding your bike in the bay running a red light - you just don't know what madman is coming 'round the corner. Bloody hell. And Chelston Gull knows what I look like! I've changed me mind. Paignton is the jewel of the South West!!

And FWIW, I love Torquay and the surrounding area. The Palace Place in Paignton is also a very agreeable place to spend an evening...with no bullshit London prices for beer either.

An opportunity missed in 1921 when Torquay Town and Babbacombe merged? If I'd been around at the time, I would have been opposed to letting those buggars from Babbacombe anywhere near our club. I suppose the idea was that it was better to have the cheating bar stewards on the inside pissing out rather than on the outside pissing in. At least we didn't contaminate our name with the B word.

I don’t think that will work, Phil grew up in a house about five away from the one I live in now and have done for the the last twenty years or so. As you are new to the TFF you will not be aware that we once had a member now living in London who slagged of Torbay and especially the people who lived here at every opportunity. The same person who stood in front of the chairman of our club and told him how much he loved the place and would move back if he could have afforded too. We live here because we love the place, its not perfect but where is? There are good and bad people here and that is the same where ever we choose to live. I hope we do not return on here to the days when the members on the TFF ended up being divided based on where they lived. We are after all on here because we are fans of Torquay United and that is the something that should unite us.

One street selling seaside goods, fish and chips, arcades and other such goods does not makea tacky seaside resort. Us locals are funny about Northerners rubbishing our place of birth. Next you'll be saying that London is full of cockney pickpockets because you've seen Oliver. Well it's my place of birth too, and Wildebeeste is welcome to speak as he finds. A blunt assessment, but one with a fair bit of truth to it in my book. (Just in case anyone is thinking otherwise, it isn't necessary to respond with a 15,000 word photo essay detailing the town's parks, beaches, views or historical buildings). The town centre is shite. Will get started on a picture thread just for you soon Lambie Have to agree that the town centre is much poorer these days and lacks any decent shops. Buy hey, we are a seaside resort, not really a shopping centre.

its not perfect but where is? The town centres might not be up to much, but the beaches, moors and pubs are amongst the best around. It's my home town too, and as much as Chelston may not believe it, I've found myself in the position of defending its honour on a number of occasions. I just happened to love Wildebeeste’s description of Paignton - all its faults and idiosyncrasies summed up in 10 or so words ;D

Still, a nerve was clearly touched and I have learned my lesson. I apologise to all who come from and love Paignton, which might well have an unattractive town centre and possess a street that smells of lard but also has at least one really nice park and a grand sea front as well. Shiphay, though. That's summat else entirely..........

The new ticket office is exceptional. Well done everyone at P&DR except the person who stole the money that delayed the project. oh and by the way I love the new library This town will come again and has alot of redeeming features despite the scourge of many a town centre in the UK, bloody charity shops

wildebeeste you have said nothing you need to say sorry for. As I said we once had a member who did all he could to try and divide this forum into two groups. In the end Rob took the action that he felt had to be taken and since then we have returned back to the friendly forum we were set up to be. You have met some of the TFF members and I think you found them all to be a decent bunch.
You have been a very welcome addition on the TFF and I for one an so glad you found the TFF.
