Well, there's Lee Sharpe. And, apparently, Paul Williams, a name which I must say means nothing to me at all. Fill us in please, BD.

Oh, that Paul Williams.
Good stuff from the more grown up of the Owls sites, there. But what was Alpine doing inside the Trots' forum? Starting the counter revolution from within, eh?

Well on your way there, Wildebeeste.
A third player in that final was on the way up when he played for us. His career suddenly sprouted from one that looked to be set for the round of West Country clubs.
A clue, indeed, if you follow Alpine's drift.

Phil King: £3000 from Exeter. £25000 to Swindon.
Good old Wikipedia!

Meanwhile, Wildebeeste, Barton Downs and Alpine Joe discuss the merits of Bramall Lane: Looks like me and Barton are reminiscing again on the subject of Tony Currie's silky skills, while Alpine Joe is just on the point of reminding us about 1979, Hillsborough and the Boxing Day Massacre.

Alpine Joe certainly looks resplendent in his Blue Army uniform. I fear we're about to discuss the partition of the city and Joe has his eyes on Heeley. He's notoriously rapacious but we're not letting him south of the A57. And, just as the French were absent from that 1945 photograph, remember we've still got Ricardo waiting in the wings.

I think I preferred being Alpine Joe rather than Uncle Joe, but I'm clearly giving the nod to Lev Yashin's season long loan to Plainmoor (the deal skillfully negotiated by Yashin's agent Cynthia Roberts). Yashin you clown...Ricey would have saved that !!

I think Wednesday need Santa to bring them a few points. They are notorious Scrooges at Hillsborough though, having once sacked local hero Derek Dooley on Xmas Eve, so Dave Jones is going to need all the presents he can get to cheer him up on his way down the road.
Meanwhile Gary Megson is still tending his garden while remaining on Mandaric's payroll.....

Undone only by one small thing, Wildebeeste. I actually prefer the Blades. Good grief. After mentioning this thread to Anne Louise (and denying any leaning) I was quite shocked by this statement. It must have been a residual sentiment left over from the 1970s. Unless, of course, I was trying to get up Alpine Joe's blue nose. Certainly two years later I have no preference towards any Sheffield club. Not even, despite a fair amount of effort, Hallam. When asked my reply was always "Neither United nor Wednesday but Torquay United". Mind you, had I stayed longer which way would I have swayed? Towards Barnsley or Rotherham I suspect. And, quite possibly, Stocksbridge Park Steels and their lovely hillside ground.

As we said on 7 May 2012 at the Town Hall, The City Is Ours! Or .............. The sky is blue, the clouds are white, and that's why God's a Wednesdayite!

Oh my God.
First Alpine Joe and now Anne-Louise, but since this is a Torquay forum what could be better for Gulls and Deedahs alike than this picture of ex TUFC starlet Jamie Ward celebrating a goal?
By heck. That's better!!
