Jon - agree 100% with your Zebroski comment. Enzo - I would also love to see Benyon start with Sills - would mean dropping one of Wroe, Thompson or Hargreaves, alternatively playing 3-5-2 again but no Stevens, Carlisle, Carayol etc. There are no easy decisions to make and the squad this year results in deserving players not starting. However, sometimes the best team does not comprise the best XI players and I can't but help think that Thompson's best position is more central and perhaps the 4-4-1-1 has been over used somewhat. Not meant as a criticism but just my opinion.

I appreciate that each different opponent might require a different approach, however i think that each time Benyon has partnered Sills up front we have looked dangerous. Add 2 wingers to that (perm 2 from the 3 of Carayol, Stevens & Carlisle) and we have a very potent strike force. Also, agree with your opinion regarding 4-4-1-1 and the best team, rather than best 11 players. Up until half time on Saturday i would have said drop Thompson (out of the 3 you mentioned) but i thought he performed very well in centre midfield in that second half, the best i have seen him play and he looked very comfortable. This was quite pleasing as i felt that our options were increased even more, without any drop in quality. Add that to the fact that Poke is likely to be on the bench very soon (according to the HE), we do have strength in depth in all 4 disciplines at the moment (up front, midfield, defence & in goal).

I didn't feel like I was being ganged up on, I just couldn't think of a better way of wording it. Come on man, what sort of childish statement is that? The type I would expect of my seven year old that's what! I got the impression you were some sort of trainee journalist called "Denzil" or are am I wrong? Apologies if I am. The point you haven't addressed in your whingeing response to the all round derision of your original post is that you stated Sills was "lazy" and I for one will not accept that slur on him. Say he's slow, say he can't trap a bag of cement - say anything you like about your perception of his ability; but don't question the very obvious integrity of the man by calling him "lazy" or if you do take the flack that goes with the territory. I just want to clear up a couple of things: 1. I did not say that I felt I was being picked on. I pointed out that I made a statement and then everyone started bitching about said statement as if it was in a primary school playground. I couldn't care less if people agree with me or not, as long as they accept it's my opinion. 2. Being a trainee journalist doesn't mean I can't be lost for words every now and then. You drive a taxi for a living Merse, does that mean you're immune from accidents? I don't think so. And for you to accuse someone else of whingeing made me laugh out loud. As for Mr. Sills (the cause of all this fall out); I thought he was lazy on Saturday. Not any other game, just Saturday. I'm afraid "winning a few headers" does not constitute a good game in my book. If I came off the field on a Sunday morning having missed two very good chances and not really managed to get into the game then I would have been disappointed with my performance. Even if I'd managed to bag a couple of assists. As I said in the match thread, Sills looked a lot happier when the excellent Elliot Benyon came on. I think this partnership could shoot us to the Football League. If you think that Sills was excellent against Woking, then that is absolutely fine. I just don't agree. Now can we please be friends again!

It is a tricky one because I doubt any of us would have suggested dropping Wroe for this game. Credit to Buckle because his half time tinkering worked.

Enzo, you should know by now that merse feels he has different rules to anyone else and forgets what he has posted himself before.
Glad you have found and quoted he who sits up high views, he himself posted about Sills not so long ago. I wait to read his reply to you with interest.

I take it that your opinion of Sill's integrity has changed since you yourself seemed to question his bottle and attitude with the comments below which were made after the Crawley game........ " The player who really worried me from Saturday is Sills. His body language belied a player who patently didn't want to take on a big ugly defender in Quinn, one who lacks any sort of pace whatsoever and did I detect a bit of the "sulker" in his demeanour?" To me, Sills body language and demeanour is poor at the moment; he didn't exactly go the extra mile to put himself about" So in conclusion.........would it be fair to say that, in your opinion, Sills has lacked bottle in certain situations and has displayed a potential tendancy to sulk and not go the extra mile? Just don't call him lazy cos that is a slur too far!................. That's a fair point Enzo................. What I saw in Sills' performance in that game I described as not wanting to do something, not failing nor apparently refusing to do so. That is a country mile from accusing him of laziness and as can clearly be read from your quote I was asking questions of his performance and demeanor on the day, not of his integrity. As a matter of interest, Sills had been left out of the starting line up that day in favour of a twin strike force that was clearly set up to by pass Adam Quinn. Following his introduction at half time he did in fact "take on" Quinn (as I feel I recall you pointing out at the time) when he set up Dsane for our goal, but my feeling was that for the rest of the game he made a point of staying clear of the big defender. That may have been under instructuion for all I know, but I did feel I detected a "certain mood" in him that day and brought the matter up. One thing we can all agree on I think is that Tim is challenged for pace!

I wouldn't take it as read that the two goals Stevens scored on Saturday would be upper most in the manager's team selection for the FA Cup tie. I believe Bucks always picks his team for the particular game in mind, taking the opposition and how they prefer to line up as primary consideration; followed by the maximum cutting edge he feels he can factor into his line up. Having said that, both Stevens AND Caryol looked far more comfortable in the second half on Saturday once they had switched wings but also when we adopted a longer ball style which pushed Woking on to the back foot far more effectively than trying to match their passing game and energetic running in the first half. The resulting "lengthening" of the game provided Stevens in particular with the extra room he thrives on and without which he struggles. I would expect Wroe to be a starter once more with maybe Benyon joining Sills in a twin strike force to the exclusion of Thompson. May be too, Ellis could be preferred to Hodges to counter the physical Constable.

Merse what a wiggling worm you are at times mate, enzo quoted this line you made in a post about sills
he didn't exactly go the extra mile to put himself about"
then to try and defend your attack on another member who said he thought Sills had been lazy in Saturdays game, you say
What I saw in Sills' performance in that game I described as not wanting to do something, not failing nor apparently refusing to do so.
That is a country mile from accusing him of laziness and as can clearly be read from your quote I was asking questions of his performance and demeanor on the day, not of his integrity.[/b]
If he didn't want to go the extra mile to put himself about, your words, how can that be anything else than being lazy.

I posted what I posted, make what you want of it Dave but I'm not getting into another tedious dung chucking contest with someone who insists on adding their own interpretation to virtually everything I post. But I'll ask this.....................how many agreed with the perception of Sills'"lazy" performance on Saturday - not one! How many took issue with my perception of Sills at Crawley at the time - just one...............Enzo! I rest my case.

But Merse how many posts have been made on forums where the poster has stated they thought Sills had been lazy in a game they had watched. If you do not know I will tell you merse, it has been many. Not adding my own interpretation to virtually everything you post, merse, only pointing out that you said that Sills didn't exactly go the extra mile to put himself about So sorry I can only take that as he did not put in the effort he could have, so surly then he must have been a bit lazy. Be a good man, admit you had the same feelings that day as B.G.E.P. had on Saturday, mind you the tone of your last post makes me feel that you are unhappy as you feel posters are picking on you. Never mind you'll get over it.

Being lazy is not something I would associate with a player like Tim Sills. For a good long 45 minutes on Saturday he was up front on his own with little in the way of close support. Thompson didn't get the service from Wroe to provide Sills with decent ball, Carayol misfired like a vintage Lada on the right and Danny Stevens didn't do an awful lot. I would rather a player of Tim's frame conserve as much energy as possible to compete for headers and have enough strength to fend off two defenders and have enough energy to get himself into positions where he might score or create important late goals. It has to said that the Claudio Ranieri like tinkering at half time worked very well. Thompson added some pace and drive to the midfield, switching Carayol and Stevens worked very nicely. The introduction of Benyon gave Sills the support he lacked in the first half. Just to echo Enzo's and TUFC01's sentiments about Sills partnering Benyon. I thought that it showed promise way back at the epic Histon away game last season. I think Benyon has improved although I seem to remember that Chief Scout Merson marked him down as a waste of space at the return Histon game this season. But I think it could be a decent partnership. The big targetman and the nippy little'un has always been a favourite of mine. Long may it continue. Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips they might not be but useful enough to score goals at a lower level!

Good points Chris and I have not said myself that I felt he was lazy, only pointing out to merse remarks he himself had made about Sills. We all know what he has said about Benyon, but don't worry, he'll try and wiggle out of that one too.

I think Benyon has improved although I seem to remember that Chief Scout Merson marked him down as a waste of space at the return Histon game this season. I couldn't agree with your assessment of Benyon more Chris. He's obviously working very hard on his own physical development.................development that has allowed him to compete at this level, and the lack of which rendered him comparatively ineffective when taking on all but the weakest defenders last season. I thought his nadir came in the game at St Albans when it became apparent he was even struggling against the next level down opponent to assert himself. Interestingly we have had a physical fitness coach (Brett Larcombe?) working with the players this season and it appears at a distance that Benyon has been the primary beneficiary of his work. All credit to Benyon and it just goes to show that one can have all the skill and natural ability in the world but without the basic foundations of strength and fitness (and in Benyon's case it appeared to be strength) the BSP can be an unforgiving theatre in which to strut your stuff................especially in his role.

Here, Merse have you started making up people's names by mixing up names of .net and forum members? Dave Badcott perhaps? Rigsby Kipper? It's Fletcher Larkin whose name you are trying to remember desperately - fitness coach for the Gulls and Torquay Athletic I believe.
