Yes, at least we're not in the bottom 2 but it all looks pretty desperate. Listening to the commentary it sounded a typical Torquay performance - a lack of quality giving the ball away when in a promising position and beaten by the better team. Yes we hit the woodwork twice but again nobody could find the net and our number of clear chances sounded very few.
So now Rice has a rib injury.

if we bottle it next week it will bye bye football league,and this lot are very capable of putting in a stinker of a performance,barnet will not come to plainmoor for a draw,they will just go for it

I'd be surprised. There's not as much vitriol for the board flying round as last time. By this time in 2007 Bateson was back in charge so there was still ill feeling. The board seem to have got away from this relatively unharmed somehow. By the time we reach the Conference South maybe people will have woken up

A creditable performance and a single goal defeat when we all expected worse but its down to the last any two from six now with Argyle just about safe above. Were still in the mix, just about though when I looked at the scores at three thirty I really thought we would be second bottom tonight.
A big well done to Martin Rice and the players at least gave it their best shot.
I don't blame them for this situation. Sure there have been some poor individual performances but we shouldn't be pointing any fingers at the playing staff or Alan Knill for that matter who has demonstrated that with a couple of the right additions this could all have been avoided. The blind leading the blind miss- management has been so obvious its almost appears to me its intentional .
I believe whoever gets the points at Plainmoor next week will survive, it's a massive game. Do we want it badly enough I'm not sure we do and this is Barnet's chance to gain revenge for us sending them down on the last day all those years ago brings back memories doesn't it?
Last game for me next week if we lose I cant bear the thought of being relegated with the ground full of gloating Rovers fans.

the players we have are simply not good enough,game after game week in week out,its been a disaster.Its not there fault but partly,not enough playing with their hearts on their sleeves,some even look like they dont care half the time as well.In another season six or seven of these would of been shown the door,but sadly not this year,knilly i blame not one bit,he has given it a go,and now we have 3 cup finals too play.As you petef i will disappear into the sunset if we do our usual home bottling job against barnet and lose,which is possible reality.
If things go as i suspect they will,a 3/4s empty bristows bench for future games,might shake em up,but will come far too late

The pain, suffering and torture goes on, it has a feeling like you are waiting for someone to die, but your not really sure if they are going to or not. For me it also feels like watching someone who is a poor climber, trying to climb up a mountain. Making a little progress one day only to lose their footing and slip back a bit further near the bottom the next. It was only a few games ago we were five points clear of the drop zone, now we are only being kept out of it on goal difference, we are very close to losing our league status, yet we are still just in the race to stay up.
Part of the reason I went and watched Buckland play was so I did not have to go through a nail biting afternoon; it’s been a hard week work wise with little reward as far as getting work in and its been very cold being up and about as early as I am in the mornings. When the first half came to and end I checked the halftime scores, we were drawing nil nil and I was very pleased with that as some might have expected us to be slaughtered up there.
The news that both Plymouth and York were both winning was not such good news, but I thought to myself there is still another half to go and as long as we could get a goal it might still turn out to be a good day for the gulls. All we have needed to do was at least match the results of the other teams around us, but having to play and beat the league leaders was always going to be a very big ask indeed.
As I walked around from the side of the pitch at Buckland I watched the game from (the stand side so the sun was behind me while taking the 185 pictures I took) all I wanted to do was get into my car and turn the radio on. As I got near the clubhouse I thought how different things are at Homers Heath after a game than they have been at Plainmoor of late. All we have seen is fans leaving the ground early as they knew we were beaten and there was no way back. The Bucks fans had all watched the end of their game and got drinks from the bar and were sitting out on the patio enjoying what was left of the afternoon sun.
But then there was nothing very important riding on the Buckland result, unlike any of our results right now and for me it was certainly a very welcome change just to watch a good game of football without all the emotions that have been attached watching our team at home.
I got to my car and turned on the radio and the first thing I heard being said was the Gills were a much better team and deserved to win the match. A smile came over my face as I thought did anyone not expect them to be better than us? They are the league leaders and we are at the bottom of the table fighting to stay in this league, they were playing to win promotion to a higher league, in just a few games we could be separated by two leagues.
Football can be a game of what could have been, games can be decided by very slim margins and luck can play such a big part. I was now hearing how Howe’s shot hit the inside of the post and stayed out, what would have happened if the gods had been on our side and the ball hit the back of the net? I then hear late in the game a Nico free kick hit the underside of the crossbar and also stayed out, if it had gone in then we would have won a point and at least matched York’s result.
To be beaten by a single goal by the league leaders was no disgrace yesterday, but it was a defeat none the less and I’m sure its one that hurt our players and our manager will have lots of work to do this week, getting them up and ready for the next big fight against Barnet.
We went so long without getting a single point, then took seven from nine, but since then we have not got a single point from our last three games and the reason we have slipped deeper into danger, when we had dared to hope we were starting to pull away from the drop zone.
Its not over yet, there is still nine points to play for, win them and we will be playing league football next season, even three points might be enough, the players will give everything they have got, if only we had got in the players we needed, then these last three games might not has been as hard as they are going to be.
I’m dreading it all coming down the our result on the final day, we do not want to be walking out of Plainmoor on that day with our heads held down low with tears in our eyes, as much as I try to remain positive, something inside of me is telling me that is what is going to happen.
