So the team have a long away trip as they still look for their first win of the campaign after playing two very tight games in the first week of the season. I think the squad will travel without the injured Benyon and the still recovering Poke as they look to come out on top for the third time in a row at their ground against a buoyant Morecambe side, fresh from their 1-0 win against Wolves in the cup midweek.
Looking at their midweek match, it was perhaps more impressive in that they had a number of players out injured mainly up front in the form of Kevin Ellison, Jack Redshaw and new signing from Bury, winger Marcus Marshall. Defender McCready was also out injured. Perhaps no surprise that the winning goal came via a free kick from midfielder Ryan Williams. Wolves were probably unlucky in that they hit the woodwork on three occasions and also had to make no less than 6 changes in their lineup due to illness and injury. Also, now back down to league 1 Wolves are perhaps not quite the force they were a couple of years ago! (sorry Wolfie)
Going back to Morecambe, in addition to Marshall, they brought in another five players who all featured on Tuesday. Stand out signing is striker Padraig Amond that most of you will be familiar with. Also defenders Mark Hughes and Diagre were snapped up along with midfielder Alex Kenyon from Stockport(only one of the five to feature as a sub) and young striker Sampson from Bolton. However, if Ellison and Redshaw remain on the sidelines, I have high hopes of us getting something from this game.
It will be interesting to see the team Knill starts on Saturday following the two previous matches. With Benyon out, pretty certain that Hawley and Ball will start, but who will come on for Hawley? Bodin moved from the left wing on Tuesday but will Yeoman make his first appearance of the season? On the wings, all reports suggest that Chapelle and Tonge worked well together so surely Knill will keep it the same? So will Cameron start on the left with Bodin in reserve or vice versa? With Thompson having a good cameo last Saturday, maybe he will be brought on as well? I suspect the defence will remain the same although again, there are some calls for Cruise to make a start.......
