So we travel to Sixfields still looking for that elusive first win of the campaign against last season's losing play off finalists which will be difficult in the extreme. Not that Northampton are flying with just one win (3-1 at home against Newport) and three losses to show for their troubles. A bit of interest for this one in that the two clubs have effectively performed a midfield swap in respect of Harding and Morris with both no doubt ultra motivated against their old clubs! I see Morris was on the bench for the Southend match but maybe with midfielder Chris Hackett being suspended after picking up two yellows in their loss against Southend, there may be space for his return.
Aidy Boothroyd has brought in another six players to bolster his squad of which five started against Southend so maybe they are having gelling problems of their own! In goal Matt Duke has moved across from Bradford and by many accounts is playing well there. There is a bit of a Westcountry feel with right back Amankwaah leaving rivals Exeter and midfielder Darren Carter from Cheltenham. Ex Coventry City and Hibs midfielder Gary Deegan is making an impact and Leicester City striker, Jacon Blyth has come in on an intial one month's loan, scoring on his debut.Of the old guard, Donovan is the dangerman on the goalscoring front and Clive Platt is one heck of a unit, possibly to bring on from the bench. They have a couple of long term injury concerns in respect of Kelvin Langmead and Alex Nicholls who won't be featuring.
After the Oxford game, I don't thnk Knill will be making too many changes. The good news is that Tonge is back from suspension and I think many fans would like to see Chappele start in front of him on this flank. Bodin certainly started well last week and IMO should retain his place. The only other selection dilemma is whether Cruise or Nico will start at left back. Would be good to see Pokey at least start on the bench.....
