Three winnable games coming up so in 2 weeks time we will be sitting quite comfortable with 15 points from 10 games. Looking forward to it party0046 I predicted that on our present form we would get no points in September nothing I have seen in the last two games has led me to change my mind. I think as per normal Cheltenham will ruin us especially in the miss match that is Nico v mcglashan and Newport will be a hard game as well and will be no pushovers, they are scoring freely something we are struggling to do.

Hi supergulls, think we could ave all predicted it was going to be a tough month for us,the next month may prove that we are going to gel and by reading some of the positive posts from yesterday,we will be soon turning our form around.....alot of posters seem to be aiming alot of our problems at nicho, surely AK must still see something in him otherwise wouldn't be selecting the guy........you seem to have alot more inside knowledge than I do super....and I respect that, but I feel we are going in the right direction, won't be long before we are scoring freely,no matter who we are playing......si

Hopefully you will be wrong. No reason at all why the next three games cannot be won. Our two home games are against teams who are actually below us in the table (now that takes some doing at the moment) and Newport are no great shakes despite a reasonable start. So you should be wrong. Do you post as Brucie on the other site?

I uploaded the highlights to yesterday's defeat. Thanks for all the support and views on my channel. Please like, comment and subscribe. www.youtube.com/channel/UCq3K8LF3WmUn0CxQ5XS2s8Q/videosThe emergency loan market is now open, we need cover for the centre backs. Doubt Knill will use it, what happened to all his contacts he was meant to have?

I'm supergulls on the other site lads as well and I'm never normally negative especially when compared to brucie, I am soo offended lol but what I will say is you don't have to put your head out of the window to see its raining. And I can clearly see that if we continue with the present starting 11 and we continue the way we are we will be bang in trouble by Christmas. I don't want to sit by and watch us battling against relegation so c'mon knill change it to plan b and give some if the other squad players a chance because on the basis of what I've seen so far they couldn't do worse.

I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest we won't get anything for the rest of this month. Cheltenham have started slowly in terms of results but it's more due to individual errors rather than lack of overall ability, and they're just starting to get it together - got a good draw yesterday against Oxford which will give them confidence. McGlashan has torn Nicholson apart every time we've played them in recent years and there's nothing to suggest that won't happen again. I'd be surprised if we got anything against them, let alone beat them. And Newport's a tough place to go, and they're scoring plenty of goals
How many games is Knill supposed to get? 46? He said to judge after 10 games - he has had 9, and by all accounts the team has shown no noticeable improvement over that time. Short of a huge improvement against a team we've struggled against in recent meetings, I'm not sure where we go from here. We're failing to beat poor teams - that's a bad sign. 1 win in 9 is a poor record, no matter how you spin it

4 wins in all the time knill has been here, lingy got sacked for "footballing reasons" well for footballing reasons alone knills recored is worse than Lings and he has gone out of two cup competitions in the first round to rub more salt into the wounds.

Some valid points from the last 2 posts, but I would like to add a positive side to them....and we airing our opinions....ok knilly must have thought we would be in a better position than where we are.....but I for 1 ave every confidence in the guy as I have said on numerous occasions......he has the confidence in the same starting 11....I still think our squad is stronger than last season, and that will be proved by the end of the season....I don't want to see us fighting at the wrong end of the league like the rest of you....I wouldn't be surprised if we get at least 4 points from our next 2 games......onwards and upwards......si

Let's get real, comrades. Alan Knill is not going to be replaced by a better manager because if there is a better one out there he already has a job. AK came in last season when we were heading downwards and I think it's fair to say that if he had not arrived when he did we would be in the Conference now. He knows far more about football than any of us do and he also sees the players every day; he's not going to ask us who he should pick to play for the side and nor should he any more than the rest of us would wish him to stick his nose into the way we do our jobs and tell us to do them differently!
There is no point just "changing things around" if the changes are going to make things worse rather than better. I am sure that experiments take place in training games to see if a different system will work better or a particular player might be more effective than another but when it comes to Saturday it's the manager who picks what he thinks is his best side. Of course, we would all pick different players to the chosen XI if it were up to us but then we are not experts, are we?
If Alan Knill were manager of Fleetwood Town or Chesterfield he'd pick a completely different squad but those clubs have rich owners who splash their cash, and we do not, so he has to make do with players he can afford. If they don't do particularly well then that is not his fault and does not mean he is a bad manager or that he deserves the sack. I can't understand why otherwise-sensible people forget their commonsense when talking about football, and why the buck always has to stop with the manager.
I honestly believe that Torquay United over-achieved under Buckle and Ling in the years 2010/12 and some fans became spoilt. Fact is that for this club 19th in the 4th division is pretty much par for the course. There are many better-off, better-supported clubs on our division and not many worse off or worse-supported in terms of numbers at the gate. Money talks, which is why the same clubs are at the top of the boring Premier League every season and also why Chesterfield are at the top of our division and Accrington at the bottom. Almost certainly, if Alan Knill were manager at either of those clubs they would still be in that position, which is no reflection on him but on the type of player each can afford.
Final comment, if you want Torquay United to succeed then you play your part when you pay at the gate. There are over 1000 members of TFF and yet the average gate at Plainmoor is only 2000+. That makes me suspicious that some folk are doing their carping from their armchairs instead of on the terraces, in which case, if the club ends up back in the Conference it will be partly your own fault for depriving them of your custom, and trying to shift all the blame onto the management or the board won't wash in that case, guys.

Of course, we would all pick different players to the chosen XI if it were up to us but then we are not experts, are we? If that's the case (yes we know that the Gaffer/Manager/Head Coach sees the players in training each day, knows what he expects them to do, 99% of us how no FL experience let along managing a club etc etc) then what is the point of having a fans forum if we can't comment without someone saying Knill knows best? I believe/think that we should play Cruise at left back against Cheltenham as Mcglashlin (or however you spell his name)will tear us apart (again). I don't think Ball is the answer (despite him being "quick" on his feet for a big man) - if we are playing with two wingers who will cross the ball the we need some git to head the fecker in. Why against Rochdale was there are only two subs - a) replacing Nico with Cruise (getting him ready for Cheltenham) and b) bring on Steptoe junior in the 86th minute? We went 1 nil down in the 77th minute.

Some good points being made and I don't think anyone can deny we have made a poor start. However, Buckle in 08/09 and Ling in 11/12 both made poor starts that saw a lot of fans want to get rid which would have been a tragedy if they had got satisfaction. I think we had a tough start and coupled with some late signings and others that haven't been up there in terms of performance have all combined to a sluggish start.
What I would point to is that we have played well in patches and that suggests we have the ability to be more than competitive in this league and I still haven't written off promotion yet....

Did I miss us winning a match in the League cup or JPT last season. Or the season before for that matter? Or did we get knocked out in the first matches we played in each of those competitions? Perhaps we should see if we get knocked out of the FA cup at home by a team from 2 divisions below again, before using cup performance as a yardstick? I think you'll find we only managed 2 wins by the start of October last season so that's hardly worse so far.

I honestly believe that Torquay United over-achieved under Buckle and Ling in the years 2010/12 and some fans became spoilt. I don't think that's the case at all. I wouldn't expect any fan to accept some of the dreadful football I've seen from Torquay over the last 12 months. Just because we're not expected to do well doesn't make poor performances any easier to take. In fact, that we have achieved success on small crowds and small budgets proves the point that we could be doing better now. Winning the league is never out of the question - a lower budget makes it more difficult but it doesn't make it impossible, in any league I appreciate you're coming at this from a different perspective, but I think what you're saying is easier to say when you don't have as much of an emotional attachment to the club - it makes it easier to say "oh well, we lost, never mind". I've seen it a bit with fans who "give up" on their Premier League/"big" club and switch to supporting a lower league or non-league club - it's easy for them to just accept a loss for what it is without getting into the detail because it's a different relationship. Similarly, I would never dictate to long-term Green Bay Packers fans what they should and shouldn't be complaining about because I've only been a Packers fan for a few months No one's asking for anything radical at this stage. No one wants Knill sacked. However, it's clear that changes are needed, and yet we're seeing pretty much the same team in every week, the only changes coming on the wings. Obviously kneejerk changes would be stupid but it's been evident over several games that something's not right in the team, so changes are needed No manager should be so stubborn to refuse to make changes on account of the team being the "strongest" possible when that team keeps losing matches. It's like that old saying: insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. We don't have a squad of 14 players. There are alternatives and he's refusing to use them. "Knill knows best" is no excuse - not performing on the training ground isn't an excuse for not giving someone a go in a match when you're losing game after game, because sometimes they can make the difference when they are out there. If the team you keep putting out there is consistently failing to win, what's the point in not making changes? You know what's going to happen if you put that same team out there again, so the least you can do is try something different I remember Buckle froze Carayol out for a long time during our first season back in League Two, much like Craig and Yeoman are now. But when we were struggling, he brought him back, even though he had barely played in weeks. It didn't get us winning straight away but he proved in those matches that he should have been starting all along. And now he's playing in the Championship. Buckle nearly killed his career but he also saved it. That was brave management I'm not going to say Knill is stubborn or spineless, because he may throw in 5 different players next week. However, in the first 9 matches, he has done a good impression of a stubborn and spineless manager, and that's worrying in the face of such disappointing results and performances. It doesn't matter if you Manchester United or Gosport Borough - defeats are poor results
