Sorry this is late. Busy week
That said, I've wanted to forget how mediocre we've been this season - bad enough not to be positive about it, but not so disastrously that there's something we can whinge about. This weekend gives us a chance to get some more points on the board and lift the gloom as we face a York side 3 positions below us, albeit only 1 point behind in a very congested bottom half of the table
Before the season started it was anticipated that York, who ended the season well under Nigel Worthington to haul themselves clear of the relegation battle, would push on and establish themselves at least in mid-table. However, this has not happened so far. Like us, they have won just 2 games so far - the first, like ours, was against Northampton, which came on the opening day; the second was a 4-2 win last Saturday over Portsmouth (. Their two draws were a 0-0 draw against Hartlepool (again familiar) and a 1-1 draw at Wycombe. Most of their defeats have been fairly narrow, with only 3 defeats by 1 goal and 2 by 2 goals
So it should be a fairly close encounter between two evenly matched teams. They have only failed to score in three league matches out of 9, compared to our two, so there should be goals - I'm particularly looking at York's front line of Wes Fletcher and Ryan Jarvis, which contributed 3 of the 4 goals against Portsmouth (the scorer of the other goal, Lewis Montrose, is suspended after picking up 5 yellow cards - yes, we're at that point already for some players). It's worth noting that 3 of those 4 goals came within the space of 10 minutes, though
Line-up vs Portsmouth:
GK Michael Ingham Def Lanre Oyebanjo Def Ben Davies Def David McGurk Def Danny Parslow Mid Josh Carson Mid Lewis Montrose Mid Ryan Brobbel Mid Elliott Whitehouse For Wes Fletcher For Ryan Jarvis
Subs: Chris Kettings (GK), Chris Smith (Def), Jamal Fyfield (Def), Tom Platt (Mid), Sander Puri (Mid), Ashley Chambers (Mid), Ryan Bowman (For)

It's a nice day today and we have been lucky in that respect as the pitch would have cut up last Saturday or even earlier in the week. Really looking forward to this game as I missed the last home game and the JPT match was the last one I saw which together with the Hartlepool game just before that were scoreless!
So this is my first opportunity to see the loan signings and will be interesting to see if Azeez starts over Bodin assuming Chappell has recovered from his knock. It could be that Manse is the only starter from a year ago which shows how Knill is constantly changing things round to his style of play!

I'm unsure which position Azeez plays in to be honest...is he a winger or a striker? One thing I'm sure of though is that Knill will never drop Lings love child as long as he's got a hole in his proverbial derriere! Which means our top goal scorer (Chappell) and arguably our best player will get dropped, which is about true to form I guess! Who Azeez replaces is up to the manager, the fact that he must replace someone (and from the bloody kick off) is imperative! We don't know yet how the new centre back pairing is going to work so we must put some sort of pressure on York's defence from the outset! Difficult game to predict this one. York had a good win last week and we didn't, and you can put your house on the fact that Jarvis will score! So to that end I'm going to predict a 1:0 win for us! I think you know who the scorer will be!

You bang on there rob,his style of play,he has his own theories and will stick to them, the man wants us to play better football.and what is wrong with that.....anyway onto he game, hoping to chappel has recovered,as usual going to be positive and going for a comfortable win for us. Good luck to the Gulls today. I cannot make this one, I'm off to see Crosby, Stills and Nash in Bournemouth. Still my brother, Frankfurt Gull, will be over from Germany to see this one. Let's hope he sees a decent performance and result.
It's been another worrying season so far and our current points to game ratio would suggest that we are in another relegation battle. Things clearly need to improve. I'm disappointed most of OUR young players are not getting a look in and are being shipped out on loan. And yet we are developing another team's player, Callum Ball, who is no better in my opinion. What is the value of having a youth system when they are hardly getting a chance in the first team? I've no problem in having the odd loan player who is clearly a higher standard than we have to give the whole team a lift, like Ladbadie and Chappell last season and hopefully Azeez this season. So at this stage I don't really know if Knill is taking us in the right direction. Let's hope he is and we will be at the big 10 matches stage tonight.

It seems he's starting the game but Pearce is not...damn, can't go into the PL to change my forecast because someone might think I tampered with last nights result!

Following the match from my hols in sunny Corfu!! Sounds grim, 3 down and inevitably Jarvis scores. I await the match reports with some dread. Seems we started ok but the familiar pattern of not being able to find the net. Looks like the management really have their work cut out. A long hard winter awaits I fear.... From those who went, were there any positives??! How did azeez and O'Connor perform?

"Judge us after 10 games"
Even if you wanted to fudge it so that it was 10 league games...we're 21st, 1 point above the relegation zone

Difficult to draw any positives from that. A worryingly lethargic performance.
Was there something on the players' minds? The whole mood just did not feel right from the start.
I'm hearing worrying reports on Pearce's health.
Poke-Pearce-Downes looked a pretty solid foundation to the team. I'm now wondering whether we will ever see much more of any of them!

A performance not recommended for those of a sensitive or nervous disposition. An utterly abject second half performance followed an even and "uncommitted" first half. Two pretty poor sides just going through the motions and in all honesty at half time it looked like another bore draw written all over it that is until we fell apart mid way through the second half and I mean fell apart for a 15 minute spell we looked a complete and utter shambles at the back and all over for that matter. Once York scored their first goal you could visibly see any semblance of belief in our lot just disappear down the plug hole. York suddenly realised that we had absoloutely no idea how to change the pattern. The minstermen just lifted their game and got stuck in while we went into our shell with no inspiration coming from anywhere on the pitch and that includes the captain who had another of those headless chicken performances that will surely soon signal the end of his time as a football league player. Nico to his credit was one of the better performers on the day. Cruise was laughably made man of the match and looked vulnerable all game hardly won a header and gave the ball away on a number of occasions. O'Conner and Azeez who looked very mobile and caused some threat must be releived they are is only here on loan and will escape another impending mess and relegation struggle that now looks very likely. Harding was having a reasonable game until injured at the end of the first period and that left us with Manselll and Lathrope to control the middle of the park as Bodin had gone missing long before Hardings departure. Bodin is simply not doing enough or even looks commited enough and even his first touch looks awful and rarely beats his marker, awful just awful today. Cammeron came on late after the damage was done and promptly lost tehe ball or fell over with each attempt to move us forward. The match facts and figures I will leave to others they are not really that important other than to say we lost at home by three goals to nil to a poor York side that were more committed than us and applied themselves better than us. So there you have it another wasted £20 plus to watch that load of garbage and I am starting to question my sanity and is it any wonder that there is no atmsophere in the ground anymore ther's simply nothing to get excited about. If this pattern of performances and results continue I reckon " The man That Can motivate"(Thea Bristow) will be on his bike by Christmas ( or maybe we will leave it until Easter if we are not already relegated by then !)and we will be set for another end of season dogfight with another temp and I fear that this time around we may well be following the likes of Aldershot to the Conference especially if we continue to bury heads in the sand and pretend that it will be all right in the end. All opinions are mine and not intended to offend those with blind faith but today I was embarrassed by our lack of quality, commitment and ineptitude with to many players, with the exception of a one or two, who were simply just going through the motions from the first whistle and for me that is unforgivable.
