Conversely, Castle Records was on the right hand side of Union Street (if you follow the one-way traffic flow) and you went downstairs to the record racks. That sounds like a description of the record department in the old WH Smith's. Castle Records was in Torhill House above Castle Circus, hence the name off the shop.

Had to bump this one ahead of Chelston’s return to the EE. Eight years ago? Seems like yesterday. And accordingly, I ordered a Vegetable Kathmandu on Sat evening which was as good as it was 8 years ago. I've not seen a Kathmandu anywhere else so I suspect it is the chef's creation (or a past chef's creation) and it is fabulous. Mind you, the sag paneer was also fantastic - the quality of food there is consistently high and I feel you are lucky to have such a good curry house in the vicinity. Although the delay for stopping there meant we didn't get back to the Home Counties until not far off midnight, it was well worth it.

I always remembered WH Smith to be further down Union Street on the left but that was John Menzies. In which case it would have been Smiths, close to Littlewoods if I remember correctly; which I probably haven't...

Chicken Kathmandu A lovely medium hot dish, chicken cooked with split lentils together with chefs own recipe. Fairly hot

Cracking meal at the Eastern Eye last night, glad to see they learnt from my constructive critism comments of eight years ago.
Couple of pints of Coaster in the Railway before going to the EE, I'd forgotten how big the place was. Pomps and proper spinnys, followed by Chicken Tika Balti (Madras strength), rice and garlic naan (they even bought another chicke dish, not ordered??) washed down with a couple of pints of Kingfisher. Food served hot and tasty.
Back to the Railway for a pint of Coaster and bumped into ex-taxman Andy who had been to Barnet.
All in all a good night.

(they even bought another chicke dish, not ordered??) If that's the chicken dish in a bright red sauce, it seems to be a regular free addition to every table provided irrespective if anyone at that table has ordered anything with chicken in it!

Anyone going to the EE for the football chat would be well advised to give the Indian Garlic Chicken a miss. Had it last night and it was very bland ☹️

What is this football chat? Sure I read/heard that Gary was going to be at the EE for a curry and question night
