All seems fairly academic given that the pitch is still a mess and this will probably end up being moved. Would be a shame because now is the time to play them - without an away win since 30th November (against Argyle) and coming off the back of conceding 4 against Fleetwood
Line-up vs Fleetwood:
Gk Dean Lyness Def Phil Edwards Def Zander Diamond Def Ian Sharps Mid Lee Bell Mid Robbie Weir Mid Damien McCrory Mid Jimmy Phillips Mid Matt Palmer For Dominic Knowles For Billy Kee
Subs: Benjamin Siegrist (Gk), Chris Hussey (Def), Marcus Holness (Def), Liam Slade (Def), Adam Buxton (Mid), Alex MacDonald (Mid), Zeli Ismail (Mid)
Head-to-head:
Burton - 6 Torquay - 5 Draws - 3
Last match: Burton 2-0 Torquay (Phillips 70; McGurk 80), League Two, October 2013
Last match at Plainmoor: Torquay 1-1 Burton (Howe 18; Zola 89), League Two, September 2012
Last Torquay win at Plainmoor: Torquay 1-0 Burton (Robertson 56), League Two, February 2011
Last Burton win at Plainmoor: Torquay 1-2 Burton (Webster 23; Zebroski 45); Harrad 51), Conference Premier, January 2008

In my end of season point total of 47 points I had this game down as a draw. We desperately need a few extra points from somewhere to get up into the 50-55 point area. A win tomorrow evening would be most welcome. (2-0 Rendell, Stevens)?

I fear a backlash after their result on Sat but both teams should be up for this for totally opposite reasons. A good time to play them I'm not so sure If we are up for it and "at em" we stand a chance if not it would be a waste of time bothering turning up. Surely Greavsy will have them fired up for this one. Burton have a surprisingly poor goals for record (+ 4) and comparable to those in mid table, They also had an unusual nine game run scoring a single goal in every match from mid Novmeber and the whole of December winning four 1-0 and drawing five 1-1. They also had an iffy start to the campaign only gaining a single point in the whole of September. Form says they have been more consistent of late and were unbeaten in twelve before they got stuffed on Saturday. They certainly have weaknesses we must try and exploit though on form we shouldn't really be expecting a win though I live in hope. Reckon the game will be on personally as I haven't seen an awful lot of rain today and with a drying wind and the odd heavy shower forecast tomorrow it stands a reasonable chance.

So Stevens and Rendell in the squad tomorrow? After initially being somewhat underwhelmed by this, I am coming round to the idea. Stevens has put in some decent performances in a Torquay shirt and Rendell certainly knows where the net is....so welcome back to both. Hopefully as CH says, they'll make us stronger.

No option other than to support and encourage the new regime and most importantly ANY player wearing the shirt. Once certain supporters start getting on their backs then we just as well give up. Amusing that certain know all posters on another site are still getting their knickers in a twist, calling each other names slagging off the manager etc just because Greavsy's brought in players he knows and can maybe do a certain job for the squad. Not sure why I bother to read it really but there are a few sensible and reasonable people who do post there though they are usually shouted down insulted and harangued for their views.

My sentiments exactly. What other option have we got but to support the players. If we start abusing them and getting on their backs we may as well accept relegation now. Abuse does not motivate players it merely saps confidence and morale making losses much more likely.

It seems that the malaise that was in the team throughout the reign (certainly throughout the latter part) of our last manager has got to grips (only momentarily hopefully) with the new managers team also. The malaise I speak of, is once we concede a goal we might just as well walk off the pitch, get changed and head down the pub! Interesting to see our couple of new additions have a chance of being in the team tonight and of course the dream scenario is for Stevens to cross the ball and Rendell to head the bloody thing in the net ala Tim Sills! It seems that Cooper is injured (nothing new there then according to Portsmouth fans) and the midfielder we bought (can't remember his name now it's been so long) at the beginning of the season is back in contention. I think Burton will score and if they do before us expect the score to be 1:0 to the bad guys!

Well, if we do lose tonight then it will be worse than I first thought! Northampton game off (gives the new manager time to bring in new players and stop the rot) as well as a few teams which are near to us. So if we do lose, and it seems likely playing a team in the play-offs then we really are in the deep stuff. To be honest I hope the game is called off!

As I said a little further up the page, if we had lost this game (and in all likelihood we would have done) what with our closest rivals matches being called off, four of the five clubs ahead of us and the one below would have two games in hand on us...psychologically it would be a huge blow to confidence.
Now the next home game is Bury, a team we should in all probability beat...i'm not holding my breath though! So if we get anything at Portsmouth on Saturday (i'm down for a 0:0 draw) the game against Bury should be a good homecoming for Greavsie...good crowd, loads of sunshine and three (SIX) points in the bag!

Hardly worth previewing this fixture. Burton will only have to appear on the pitch and we will surely capitulate and go down in a whimper. Like to see some radical and imaginative tactical thinking now we are almost certainly doomed but doubt that will not happen . Same old same old in any case the players will be picking themselves according to Greavsy. Maybe that's the best idea instead of having tactics imposed on them do as they like! Wouldn't make an awful lot of difference. Jumpers for goalposts next!

It will be interesting to see what the team selection is tomorrow. Despite the really poor last two home performances, I still look forward to the game. Yes, I do worry about the quality of the players and we will do well to stay up but we have been here before. The last time we were relegated out of the league we had a farce of a board/chairman/managers during that season. We surely can't play that badly at home again for the third time on the bounce when there is so much at stake.
