Jon, when he joined this forum was not sure it should really be here, he felt it would divide the fans. Yes, Dave, I was disappointed that there was a "split" - particularly when there was a lot of mudslinging at dotnet in the early days. I did say that I would not participate on this site if it was just an anti-dotnet zone. I know you have worked hard to ensure that has not happened - and I have enjoyed posting here. I never doubted your integrity or your motives and you have done a great job with this forum. I hope that when people read my post on this thread, they will see that it is not me indulging in intersite mudslinging - merely me justifying why I believe that Southampton Gull's judgement on this issue has been poor.

The criticisms leveled remind me of those leveled at Sheffield Gull ( I think) when he was trying to raise awareness of the inadequacies of Chris Roberts Those two situations are a million miles apart. Chris Roberts was driving our club onto the rocks and there was nobody at the club to stop him. **************************************************** Our current position is that we have the best Board of Directors that we have had for forty years. They are responsible for running our club. They will make judgments on whether to make issues public. They will make judgments on whether to get rid of staff or not. They will make these judgements after considering all the facts. They will make these judgments in the interests of Torquay United Football Club. **************************************************** Do I think that Southampton Gull is better placed than them to make policy decisions? No, I don't. I doubted his judgment when he insisted that the Buckle / Rayner rift was entirely Buckle's fault and concluded that it proved that Buckle was a bad man-manager for scape-goating a totally innocent player. I questioned his ability to make a judgment on limited knowledge - but he was utterly convinced that hearing one side of the story put him in a position to judge. Note that down - it will come up again! I doubted his judgment when he made insinuations about Shaun Melhuish's motives for sponsoring the club. Most of us know that Shaun has good points and bad points, but we do know that he has a genuine love of TUFC and most of us could see that was his motive for offering sponsorship. Southampton Gull thought he knew better. I doubt his judgment now. It's strange that the first outburst alluded to above cast Buckle as the villain. The second cast Melhuish as the villain. Now Buckle and Melhuish are heroes and Lee is the villain. When Jon posts, you want to take note; he knows where he is coming from. When Rob speaks, he knows his stuff, legally (he is a solicitor), he is a trust founder and he knows the central "characters" When Sheffield Gull spoke, he spoke as the person who at the very beginning planted the seeds of the trust and inspired it's inauguration. I am proud to be one of "That Gang" - remember us being called that? Remember how we were vilified? Do you even remember what it was about? Well if you need reminding, it was because we put our names behind a motion of no confidence in Chris Roberts' chairmanship. It was because we communicated with, and made our feelings known to one of the Roberts' consortium and gave him our input as supporters of the club. Yes, even me "The Chris Roberts Fan" as I get constantly thrown at me for enthusiastically viewing his proposal to drag mouldy old Torquay out of it's decade's long stupour away from crumbling seafront, boarded up shops and wandering drug abusers. When "Sheffield" first suggested to me all was not well with Roberts' vision, method of funding it even his apparent mental health; it was not what I wanted to hear, but when I then heard the same concerns from one of his consortium it was time to take notice. Sheffield also at a later point expressed his concerns over another person connected with the club and how they had come to leave their previous club....................I checked that out with someone I knew at that club and he was right. In this instance I didn't think it was my remit to "Whistle blow" that person and even though their "character trait" did re-emerge at Plainmoor I have said nothing and neither will I.............they are no longer at Plainmoor, there would be nothing constructive in talking about it now. Sheffield, Rob, Jon Lear and I were the founding members of TUST who put OUR names where our mouths were and they are there to this day on the originating documentation. As "exiles" Sheffield Rob and I never intended to remain at the helm - it was essential that was done by locally based fans, as it is so well - but that's another story. The "dream" we all wanted came true and the present day consortium came over the hill like proverbial knights on white chargers and the trust is up and running in exemplary fashion. They ALL know how to conduct themselves, they ALL know how to show integrity and retain judgment of when and when not to speak publicly. That people within any organisation have fractious relationships is a fact and quite often that fractiousness provides energy that can be positively channelled. It is for an informed Chairman and his board to be the authority and policy making body on that, not website "staff".................that's how it works at good football clubs and we all know of lesser clubs where good people have departed through the machinations of scandalous conduct by website proprietors and their "staff" I agree entirely with Jon's overview of the weekend's ridiculous and unnecessary pantomime, I have one hundred per cent trust in Alex Rowe's ability and integrity to run OUR football club and I have nothing but contempt for one who was promoting the "imminent departure" of Paul Buckle even before LAST season was done and dusted! Let it rest there please!

They are saying slightly different things on this matter though! I take Jon's points - he outlines why he questions SG's judgement without resorting to a character assisination. A tone slightly different to many previous posts on the matter. I'm hoping tomorrow's game will move the discussion on. Doubt it.

You would have thought grown men would sort things out between them wouldn't you really?

I must be having a senior moment. I`ve clearly forgotten that I`ve been on another planet for the last week or so.
Logged on to this site only to find mass hysteria.
Get a grip everyone. Either you are naive or live in a dream world if you believe every personality in an organisation loves each other. Personalities are bound to clash and opinions differ. The important thing is that you act in a proffesional manner with the interests of the organisation as the priority, not your own personal agenda.
I do not know any of the characters connected with United. For me all that counts is the public image of the club
On match days all concerned have conducted themselves with the utmost profesionalism.
When there have been press releases the club has appeared in a professional manner.
Anything that goes on behind the scenes is none of my concern.
I`m getting a little tired of all this speculation.
Please enjoy the moment of a succesfully run club on and off the field. We`ve not had it this good for many a year.
For those suffering with the tall poppy syndrome, try being positive and enjoy the good things at the club. You may find you`ll appreciate supporting a winning team a little more.
Sure we are not the finished article but let it rest and lets talk about the good things we have achieved to date.
phew i`ve vented my spleen again.must get rid of that soap box.

Enzo you do make me laugh mate, so the one you feel is being made subject to a character assisination is not the same one who is subjecting Colin Lee to one? or have I missed something here. ;D

I agree Aussie, the news on Todd was very sad and we should be following his progress and showing our real support as fans, I will post no more on this thread but had to make my small post to Enzo.
