Our last Football League game comes against a Wycombe team also fighting for their League Two survival. Wycombe are 4 matches without a win and have lost 3 of those. Their last away win came at Exeter in February - that is their only away win of 2014 so far. They lost a crucial relegation six-pointer against Bristol Rovers last Saturday and their fans are pessimistic about their chances of survival, mainly because they don't expect to beat us. They need to win and hope that Bristol Rovers lose to Mansfield or Northampton lose to Oxford. The last time we beat Wycombe at home was the year we were relegated.
Line-up vs Bristol Rovers:
Gk Matt Ingram Def Anthony Stewart Def Aaron Pierre Def Danny Rowe Mid Josh Scowen Mid Stuart Lewis Mid Matt Bloomfield Mid Sam Wood Mid Max Kretzschmar For Steven Craig For Matt McClure
Subs: Charlie Horlock (Gk), Marvin McCoy (Def), Leon Johnson (Def), Nick Arnold (Def), Junior Morais (For), Jo Kuffour (For), Reece Styche (For)
Head-to-head:
Wycombe wins - 5 Torquay wins - 3 Draws - 4
Last match: Wycombe 3-2 Torquay (Azeez 27; Kuffour 28; Pearce 37; Cowan-Hall 53, 77), October 2013, League Two
Last match at Plainmoor: Torquay 1-2 Wycombe (Jarvis 37; Wood 76; McClure 81), February 2013, League Two
Last Torquay win: Wycombe 1-3 Torquay (Beavon 7; Wroe 27, 49; Benyon 88), November 2010, League Two
Last Torquay win at Plainmoor: Torquay 3-0 Wycombe (Kerry 20; Williams 40; Robertson 76), March 2007, League Two

For obvious reasons it's very quiet on this thread. I think the steam will have been taken out of the players once relegation was confirmed, so i'm going for a 0:1 loss...again! I think Wycombe will be up for this a lot more than we will be and if they get an early goal, they'll just sit back like all the other teams that have beaten us by the same score line have done, and pick up their three points...thank you very much!
Have also put Northampton down to lose by the same score line...at least it makes checking the results slightly more interesting.

Reckon it will be a good atmosphere. No tension for us but so much for Wycombe and their supporters and that will rub off on our lot as we know what they're feeling all too well. Without Coulthirst coupled with the fact we only have pride to play for I think we may struggle but hopeful of being surprised with a great performance that takes us off the bottom and restores just a little pride.

It's all over for Wycombe regardless of the result. Northampton are winning 2-1 from 1-0 down since Oxford went down to 10-men. Bugger!

Maybe not. The Gassers are losing 1-0. It's stopped raining so I'm off to work.

The end for us after a truly miserable, wretched season - can only hope we have the capability to reform and have a resurgence in 2014/2015 - I am not entirely convinced !

Glad I decided to give this one a miss. Shame to go out on another home defeat. Sounds like we just couldn't cope with a Wycombe side fighting for their lives. Fair play to them. I await the news of player ins and outs with interest, and not a little trepidation!

Just got home. I will pull no punches here. One of the most impotent inept embarrassing performances I have ever witnessed from a Torquay side. Myself and those around were laughing come the end at just how poor in EVERY single department we were with one exception that being Courtney Cameron who looked like the only genuine footballer in a yellow(white indistinct anniversary, another design cock up ) shirt. What Hargreves does with this lot is a complete mystery to me there wasn't one ounce of pride or passion from most of the players. For the whole game there was no leadership or drive from anywhere on the pitch. Just going through the motions comes to mind and I was bloody angry at what I was witnessing right before my eyes. The last time we were relegated out of the football league we had only four players signed on we all thought at the time that was a bad thing that put us at a disadvantage but as it turned out it was a huge advantage because any manager could come in and start from afresh. As it is now Hargreaves is lumbered with a squad of players that turn up when they feel like it, individuals that have no idea of how to play as a team. Amazing really I honestly thought we had turned a corner and were starting to get things right both tactically and with player attitudes but after watching that today its clear we are continuing to go backwards. Defensively we looked like a park side gifting goals giving away the ball at every opportunity in dangerous areas and paid as early as the fifth minute with a Wycombe goal that stated the ball rolling. Lazy indecisive defending, no player taking responsibility ked to the first soft goal, and the second penalty and the second half lob over Rices head. It was simply appalling and what you would expect to see from a local Sunday league match. The midfield was little better no creativity as has bee the case for eighteen months, constantly giving the ball away cheaply each one of Mansell and Lathrope passing sideways or to an opponent was the order of the day. Yeoman had the sort of anonymous game that had me writing him off as a proper footballer two years ago - he just hasn't progressed enough in so many departments and his first touch is often poor. Elliot did what Elliot has been doing all season running around a lot and falling over with little effect. Fair play to Wycombe they deserved their win but they were playing a pub side today, a team of individuals who have no idea of how to play for each other, and didnt really have to raise their game by mutch for what was probably their easiest win of the season. So we have the nucleus of a n exciting young squad and a vibrant young management team have we Alex/ Thea. well you could have bloody well fooled me after watching that tripe today. If we go into next season with that lot and continue with the same patterns and inept tactics and performances there is only one way we are going to go and if there are any Rovers supporters who come on here asking what went wrong I can only apologise on behalf of the supporters though you really should have done the business at your end anyway. Thank god the season is over I can now forget all about Torquay Utd and get on with enjoying the Summer and stop being angry and embarrassed by the performances I have witnessed for the last eighteen months and who knows if it carries on much longer as it is I may even get out of the habit and save some money and emotions.

Just got in from our 500 mile round trip.
I have to agree with everything said by pete.
A truly embarrassing display by the Torquay side.
Well done to the Wycombe supporters who were a credit to their team.
My day was saved and made by bumping into Frank O'Farrell on the way out, giving him a hug and a handshake and thanking him for giving me the opportunity to watch the great side of the mid to late 60's. How they must be turning in their graves!

Glad to see the end of a truly dreadful season and relieved that I couldn't make this game. World cup year should pass the time between seasons and will sort that board out shortly.

Chris Hargreaves thoughts from the programme:
"There is one more huge incentive today and that's to win this game and finish off the bottom. Let's end this season in style and start a new one with a winning mentality".
Or let's just roll over and give up.
Pah.
