In midfield, Ben Harding stood out for me, more so than Young, who attempted to be ambitious at times but his long passes quite often went to the opposition, while Harding was just tidy, played the sensible, easy pass. He was probably my m.o.m. I agree, i wondered who the tall shaven headed guy was in the Walsall game. Looks a completely different player to last season from what i have seen, strong and hungry for the ball. Just hope he stays fit this season. |

To be fair Ben Harding was just starting to look a reasonable player and then got himself an injury that kept him out for months. Having said that no excuse for feeling his way into this season like he did last year.
We need players up for it from the off and its nice to see that Greavsy has managed to create competition for starts on a very tight budget.
Quite looking forward to the "honesty" of non league football, enjoyed the experience last time out and no reason not to enjoy it this time around, unless that is we are struggling at the wrong end which i doubt very much.

An enjoyable game but, as Barty said, we've had enough of friendlies now and want to see some real action.
Reasons for optimism and for pessimism on our part, nothing positive for Exeter to cling to.
Still impressed with Bowman and Young, still worried about the full backs. Stuck record.
MacDonald had a very good game. He needed to as he had three statues alongside him at the back. The fact we kept a clean sheet says far more about Exeter than it does about us. It was the case of a resistible force meeting a movable object.
Exeter's lethargic display will raise again the wisdom of the Brazil trip. As a historian, I thought what they did was fantastic. If they stay up, that's how history will see it. If they go down, the Brazil trip willl almost certainly be seen as a contributing factor.
