Amazingly, it was only a month ago that I was thinking that this match could decide who would go top - now we are seemingly becalmed with Barnet slipping over the promotion horizon! Nevertheless, it could be a good time to play them and get over our malaise - Firstly as everyone will be up for a televised match against the league leaders, particularly after our last performance on the box. Secondly, a weekend off for us to focus and prepare while Barnet had a tough game in poor conditions, picking up a couple of suspensions in the process.
Despite being top with clear blue water between them and the rest of the chasing pack, Martin Allen has felt the need to strengthen bringing in Mensch from Watford and Hunt from Oxford. Not that either started on Saturday - current lot are doing alright after all...
John Akinde is top scorer with twelve, ably supported from midfield with Cook and Villa Lopez notching 8 & 7 respectively! Also their Captain MacDonald ( could that be the name of a future Torquay captain) is now back from a nasty knee injury and will partner Akinde up front. Their possible weakness is the suspensions of defensive midfielder Sam Togwell and right back come winger Andy Yiadom with the former having plenty of league experience.
As for Torquay, for once no suspensions but the way McDonald was carried off the pitch last week, must be a doubt for this one. Chappell and Briscoe were also carrying injuries but may be fit? I suppose the real question is whether Berry will make his debut, not counting the Tivvy debacle of course! Line up has been all over the place recently but as long as Richards is played in the middle of defence I will be reasonable happy!

Well, another hiding game tonight. I'm as lost as every one else as to what's happened to our form. When Knill was here it seems that he couldn't get the players to play for him, which is the one thing I wouldn't have expected to happen to Hargreaves...but it seems it has. The state of our defence doesn't help our cause of course, so Ives and Berry have to play tonight...fat chance! Barnet have lost a couple of players through suspension, so that at least has to help our cause, so for that reason i'm going for a 4:1 win for the bad guys!
I kept BTSport in the hope of watching Torquay play more often than I normally do. Tonight I will probably watch the first ten minutes, and turn off after the second goal goes in!
Sorry Simon!

Not at all optimistic playing the best attacking force in the division whilst we have one of the worst defensive records on current form. Can only hope for a change in fortunes and some ridiculous luck to go our way for a change. Will be watching at home with my two fellow supporter mates hoping for the unlikely. Only hope we perform better than the last time we were on the box when some strange tactical managerial decisions lost us the game and further drained the players confidence. If we play in the same wide open manner that is either good and great to watch or just bloody embarrassing I fear we will get another hiding. Its not easy for Hargreaves but I would like to see more evidence of him learning from his mistakes and just being a little more canny with his tactics. Keep things tight early on and frustrate the opposition break out with caution as the ball is just not sticking up front of late. We have the players to cause problems and it looks like Louie Brisco will be back which is a bonus though I reckon Mac Donald will struggle to make this one so it cancels out. Personally I would play an extra midfielder rather than two more offensive wide men for this one. They have some quality in their squad Stephens I think it was at left wing back gets forward with pace so i expect danger from that area. Tears or cheers - no idea but surely our luck has to change soon. Possible starting eleven. Seabright Berry Pearce Downes Cruise Ives Young Richards Briscoe Bowman Ajala.
What I expect Sebright Tonge Pearce Downes Cruise. Young Richards Cameron Bowman Briscoe Ajala

So far, so good, really good first goal. Defensive mistake for our second.
