After a gritty three points on Saturday we now go on our travels to a couple of the more fancied teams in our league with our FA Trophy conquerors being first up tonight.
Despite getting to Wembley last year, the league position for Wrexham was deemed no where good enough and their manager Keith Wilkin was sacked with Gary Mills coming in as a replacement. This has necessitated a rebuilding process with 12 New signings, 7 of whom, started against Bromley on Saturday in their surprising 3-1 defeat, despite taking the lead and dominating play for the first quarter of the match! They will therefore be desperate to make amends and get their first win in front of their own supporters!
We went into Saturday's match with three key injuries to Briscoe, Hurst and Young which disrupted our line up. I think Young and Briscoe were pencilled in to play in the hole and that meant Fenwick was pushed slightly forward in an unfamiliar position. Also, Richards had to be brought in to the midfield area which meant he couldn't cover at right wing back and thus play Cox's preferred formation. Briscoe may well be back for this one so at least so options for us in this respect as we will undoubtedly have three in the central midfield areas. It will be 4 weeks tomorrow that Hurst injured his ankle and with him anticipated to be 4-6 weeks out, his return could be any match, even if only on the subs bench initially. I am anticipating for us to get better as the season progresses so anything from these early games will be a bonus!
