Let's hope we start with the shape we finished the Hemel game with.
Edwards and Andrews wide. Keating at centre-forward. I would like to see Williams have the chance to play off him, but expect Reid will get the nod.
Dickson in for Regis if fit.
It would be very nice to bag three points to keep us on the heels of the play-off places - even nicer if done with a convincing performance.
I don't believe our first team has ever played Chippenham, but our reserves met their first team in fifteen seasons of Western League football : 1956-65, 1976-81 and in 1992-93 - which was our last ever season of Saturday reserve team football.
Worth remembering how strong the Western League was back then - and that half of the teams came from Devon or Cornwall.
1 Clevedon Town 2 Tiverton Town 3 Saltash United 4 Taunton Town 5 Mangotsfield United 6 Torrington 7 Westbury United 8 Paulton Rovers 9 Torquay United reserves 10 Plymouth Argyle reserves 11 Exmouth Town 12 Elmore 13 Bristol Manor Farm 14 Bideford 15 Frome Town 16 Chippenham Town 17 Minehead 18 Liskeard Athletic 19 Chard Town 20 Dawlish Town

I'm heading to Plainmoor in anticipation of a good open game......so it'll probably turn out to be anything but. Having attended the Truro v Chippenham match (along with very few others) earlier in the season, I thought today's visitors were a tidy side, with some decent ability and players who seemed to enjoy playing the good football that Plainmoor's surface is currently suited to. On top of which, their record seems to indicate that Chippenham will see no reason to 'park the bus' as they're capable of scoring against, and giving a good competitive game to the best sides the NLS has to offer. I believe they have goalkeeping concerns, so whether they're giving added protection to a teenage loanee, we'll wait and see. Against Truro, and certainly for their final goal, whipped in crosses at pace, met with skill and bravery by onrushing forwards, brought spectacular results. No chance of that today, particularly if we have the space well covered with a back five. Gary Owers promotion chasing side seem certain to be without Sokolik, Niate, Dickson and Nabi......arguably 4 of our first choice starting eleven based on early season showings.....so a walk in the park against this particular 'park' team certainly shouldn't be expected. I'll get to the ground a little later than usual, thereby hoping to avoid the creche/childs birthday party that seems destined to precede it. If 90 minutes of thrilling entertainment can be topped off with 3 points then we'll all be reflecting happily later this evening .

Looking forward to this but having two first choice centre halfs out isnt helping and we simply can not afford another first half like last week when we were far too open and were very fortunate not to concede. If we play like we did in the second half last week then another three points is definitely on the horizon imo...COYY

Other site reporting that we are trailing 1_0...toxic atmosphere and chants of Owers out. Attendance just over 1400....yet to be confirmed.

Confirmed on BBC...lost 1-0. Best result of the season if it results in Mr Owers leaving the club.

Owers wont be going anywhere - the owner isn't interested in football or the football club. Nothing against the manager personally but Iv'e said a number of times, he hasn't got a clue on how to set up a team to score goals and its only because the standard has dropped so much that were not conceding many. A good attacking side will crucify us. Too close to some players- Ried who is being picked - because hes a nice lad, he said so himself this week. FIVE goals scored in nine games tells a story and he's never been able to solve that problem. FFS nothing has changed from last season when he didn't have a clue how to set up a goal scoring team and has again brought in the wrong type of player and persevered with players that have proved to be not good enough.
It cost us a relegation and he will cost us another at this rate.

Another dismal performance and defeat today that we have seen all too often since Owers took charge a year ago. Yet again Torquay were clueless going forward and never looked like scoring. Time and again our delivery was appalling and both our full-backs Wynter and Davis were again guilty of that. They have been like that all season so there is no change there. Crowd 1,454, there was no announcement of the number of away fans or sponsors MOTM?
The writing was on the wall when Keating was substituted for Williams in the second half. That was an unpopular decision with the Pop side as at least Keating shows good energy and commitment. The crowd then turned on Owers with chants of "we want Owers out". I do not particularly agree with the crowd doing this during a match as this affected the players who were already struggling. From that point our game just fell apart.
Torquay started very brightly and the first 15 minutes we were well on top camped into Chippenham's half. We had a good tempo and our passing and movement was also very good. We had several corners and some decent pressure. However, for all this pressure we rarely threatened their keeper. In fact all game I can only remember us having 2 shots on target. Both were from our loan player Edwards and both were comfortable saves for their keeper. There lies our problem! We are totally toothless in attack and we have been like that since Owers joined a year ago. This season IS a continuation of last season's dismal performance.
After Torquay's bright start, we gradually faded and Chippenham came into the game. The difference was that when Chippenham had an attack they troubled our keeper or went close. We never did. Chippenham's winner was a simple header from a corner - just like the other week their player was unmarked and planted a firm header into the net. Chippenham easily contained Torquay for the rest of the match as most of Torquay's passing was around the half-way line getting nowhere. When we did get into a decent position our crossing or final ball was woeful. We tried some long range shots as well and they were way off target as well. Absolute rubbish and even players like Cameron late on were very error prone as the Pop side were restless and turned on the manager. Our Bristol City loan players Andrews and Edwards were our better players, at least they were positive and bright. We ran out of ideas in the final third and our 3 substitutes offered very little. Williams was again anonymous and Banton on the left wing looked poor as well. Our game eventually became an aimless shambles and Chippenham held us very comfortably.
So another home defeat, another game without scoring. Don't kid yourself things are improving and will improve under Owers. He might be a decent bloke but I'm afraid he clearly is not the man to take our club forward. Owers has now had a year to prove himself and it gives me no satisfaction to say that he has failed miserably. I do not agree with chanting "we want Owers out" during a match as this clearly affects the players performances, but I agree with the sentiment.

That was utterly depressing apart from the first 10 or 15 minutes when actually Chippenham hardly got out of their own half and were under substantial pressure as we passed the ball around well and looked like we might get something out of the game. However, slowly Chippenham got back into the game with a couple of long range shots and a good through ball then scored from a lovely delivered corner from a free header and the wind went right out of our sails. They rightly celebrated like they had won and with our lack of ability to score they virtually had.
It was then the same old rubbish with minimal pressure applied. The Keating substitution for Williams was greeted by the crowd with dismay and anger not helped by Williams being totally ineffectual thereafter. The ref was particularly poor today.
Under normal circumstances Owers would have been long gone but won’t go unless pressure is brought on the owner who has not been consistent when it has come to managers not performing. Not that his interest is in the club doing well

It's the owner we need out but we have no-one to replace him except the tust and they are useless, clueless and hopeless, they also don't have a pot to puss in! So we're basically screwed! The sooner we learn to accept this the easier it will be to let go of a now dead club! Now we need a Phoenix!

True they haven't got the coin to buy and then sustain the club but (imo) are doing their best to enage in conversation with a slimy toad who doesn't want to engage. They would appear to be the only ones trying. Not sure if they are able to suggest a strong way protesting (with or without forks) and whether as some say, CO isn't there, what's the point.
