Two goals in the last ten minutes...if I had a pound! Of course we'd lost from the moment we sold the last ticket of our allowance! How often do we do it...get the big build up...wham!

It was a bit disappointing to lose that one as we certainly had the opportunity to win but were let down by some poor decisions on the day.
Ironically, we did play better in the second half and it felt for a time like we would go on to complete the win. After all those fabulous goals that we have been scoring it was ironic that when we did take the lead for the first time in the match it was from a set piece corner with Reidy on the back post just having to stick out his right foot on the line to steer the ball into the net.
We had other opportunities with a good Andrew’s corner somehow making its way through the 6 yard box only needing the slightest contact to go in and a curling free kick from the same player just tipped over the bar by Clarke. After some good interplay Andrews was fouled in the box and at that point it looked like we were about to seal the deal but uncharacteristically his attempt was hit well over the bar and on that moment the match changed.
Bath were able to take this bit of luck and give it a good go and from a high swirling ball in the box, Hall tried to clear but made contact with the challenging player who of course went down, I don’t think Hall was even looking at him, so possibly a little harshly awarded penalty but then I have seen them given, seen them not. The penalty was subsequently dispatched into the bottom left hand corner and then it was really game on.
Edwards had recently come on and for the first time was given the ball with a bit of space on the right wing but decided to pass infield, giving the ball away and rushed in to try and retrieve it but it was passed out to the wing where he had just vacated and from there, their winger was able to take the ball to the edge of the area and deliver a lovely cross met by their forward with a glancing header into the net to the delight of the home support. Good goal.
We did have a great chance at the death to equalise from a corner McDonald’s came up into the box to support the play and the ball came out to him on the far side where he was able to cross firmly to Janneh right on the edge of the 6 yard box who just had to turn the ball into the net but was hit well over the bar.
Not our day, not quite on it, a young team will make some mistakes and that’s football I am afraid.

Reid wasn’t happy Andrews grabbed the ball either. Johnson got a sub ready for Andrews within seconds of the miss and disbelief signed by Reid to the bench. Same as he had done when Kalala went all stroppy and hopeless again early on in the second half after a dreadful first half performance.
Hopefully the pair will learn from their apparent immaturity today, courtesy of a disappointed Manager. They’re both youngsters, still. In the case of Andrews, his stupidity is bound to have been something that led to him thinking he’d cost us all three points at some point. What you do is you bounce back from it. They both can, as can the whole team and hopefully will ASAP.
Hall and Davis’s experience did show today. The inexperience of a few of the others equally told. Bath had more bite in the middle of the park and Hall was often the only one who bit back, broke things up and tried to set our tempo back up. Davis did what Davis does. Plays consistently well. Janneh was industrious, but yes, that miss was uncharacteristic. Brunt and Straker made us suffer and showed their experience at the end. We go again.
MacDonald 6 Should have had an assist. Did nothing wrong. Wynter 6 With Janneh had to work hard while Kalala was on the pitch Cameron 6 He’s better with the armband. Keen to see him get back to those levels as I like him a lot. Sendles-White 5.5 Distribution noticeably poor when we were hopeless in the first half and presently my third choice centre back Davis 7.5 Very good. Never seen him have a bad game. Mr. Consistancy.
Kalala 3 When I’ve watched him he is either brilliant or woeful and stropping. He comes alive when we have scored or he has the ball at his feet and space ahead of him. His manager needs a good chat with him and he needs to listen. And he will. Lemonheigh-Evans 5 The best bit of skill I’ve seen in this League toward the end, but left too much for Hall to do in the centre all day. Hall 7.5 My MOTM. Only criticism possibly is maybe he should have taken that ball off Andrews. That’s maybe harsh as Andrews was adamant and Hall may have been catching his breath at the time having worked like a bastard all match. Got a goal, too. Andrews 4 Silly boy. Petulance punished. Can’t have failed to see the results of that stupidity today, sadly. Needs to learn from it.
Janneh 6.5 Worked his socks off, first half often doing the work of two, but not on it when it mattered, unfortunately. Mature display. Tried manfully to gee up Kalala at times, to no avail. Reid 6 Worked hard. Knocked off the ball more by some good defenders today, to be fair. Got a goal. As our designated penalty taker, should have had a good chance for his second to put us 3-1 up
Manager: Didn’t mess about when immaturity and lack of professionalism reared it’s head and will have expected and will expect more.
Their number 11: I didn’t like him.
Opi looked as if he had been out for a while. Keating wasn’t all that, the main thing I remember was him skying one from the edge of the area shortly after coming on.
In conclusion, hopefully today was part of a learning curve for some that they will benefit from as we now romp to the title. You can’t win every week. But we threw it away, having been bloody lucky to go in level at half time.

Do ya reckon there should be a clause in their recently signed contract extensions that allows the manager to rip up the contract if this happens, it's not a coincidence that the only game we lose under Gary is the one right after the contracts were signed!

No lack of effort today and a game we should have won. Johnson seems to have his own way of dealing with players under performing or not up to the job mainly not getting pitch time. Take today, Kalala and Andrews subbed very promptly despite both having generally been top notch for us.

This is more or less like the WSM game. The big away crowd doesn't inspire the team, it scares them and they buckle under the pressure.

Thought Bath City played well, passing the ball to each other rather than the Utd way of lumping the ball forward, but all three City goals came from errors, two misplaced passes and a penalty.
There were at least four decent attempts on the City goal (three from what appeared like a yard) with Kalala missing a gilt edge chance early in the first half, two from Janneh with what could have been a point if that last minute attempt had gone in, no both blasted over the bar and there was another attempt when the ball buzzed through the six yard box and three players all missed it!
But the game changed on the penalty miss/who the fecks taking it fiasco. If Reid is the designated penalty taker he should have taken it. Had it gone in, game over however, Andrews miss gave City an extra gear and their last goal coming from a Edwards miss pass was a cracking one.
We were very poor yesterday and it has been on the cards over the past few weeks. Yes we had to lose at some stage but not in the giveaway manner yesterday. Going up as Champions could hinge on such result.
A word on the trouble, I don’t think they were Utd supporters and would agree that they were a combination of some banned fans and agitators. Thought that Bath should have blocked off that corner, common sense says if there is any trouble it would be there. Not sure why the Police didn’t have a dog present!
Still say that we are a Ryan Brunt type player short of a great forward line. Would give us something different.
Let’s take it out on Oxford City.

As long as the same thing doesn't happen at the Woking game, because something tells me there's going to be a lot riding on it!

I was in the seated area so well away from this but really disappointing to see this going on. From comments elsewhere it seems a lot of this element are not associated with the club which is a real pity and hope this does not occur elsewhere.

link - apology on twitter from Andrews - time to move on. The difference between zero and three points yesterday could hit hard come April. He and all the team will also know that and I expect their Manager will have said that to all yesterday. It is all about learning from mistakes and hopefully that has been done. Let it be an incident that increases togertherness and improves performances going forward. This sort of thing can also galvanise efforts managed properly and we have a proper Manager to aid that. Totally agree with chelston that having a Ryan Brunt or Tyler Harvey to call upon would improve our squad and game management options. That and another experienced gnarled pro like Hall about the place would certainly help our cause.

We could have had our destiny in our own hands so missed a trick but still have a third of the season to go so plenty of time and promotion jitters invariably seems to raise its head along the way so hopefully the players will have learnt from this and deal better with the pressure going forward.
