One the one hand I'm not concerned, the job has been done and this is likely the result of what happens when the tension and pressure are off, it has happened to other championship winning teams in the past, so no worries. On the other hand though I wonder how much this is down to the absence of Janneh, Hall and Keating. Johnson has in reality been very fortunate up to now in not really having any real injury crisis with what is a very small squad. We were fortunate to seal the title before the crisis hit.

Oh well, we can't have everything. I am more than happy with this season and today's match will soon be forgotten. There were great celebration scenes at the beginning and after the match. It was a nice touch putting free flags to wave in every seat and seeing Torquay entering the pitch through a guard of honour with all those flags waving was a great sight. To seeing Torquay parading a trophy after the match was something we had only dreamed about before so I was not going to miss that. After the trophy celebration there was a chance to get photos with players and Gary Johnson on the pitch and myself and my son took full advantage of that. The crowd of 5,351 was a fantastic turn-out and a new Conference South record so there was still plenty to enjoy today.
Yes it was disappointing we lost and not score but that's football. As I have said all season, if you are not quite on your game these teams will take advantage. Gary Owers found that out to his cost, you just don't turn up and roll these teams over. It is a good job we are having this blip now after we have won the league. I would not fancy going into the playoffs right now. It's been a long season and we are missing three key players - Hall, Janneh and Keating. It's a small squad and we are not blessed with many options but the job has already been done so there is no need to get downbeat.
I thought Torquay's first half performance was half decent and we must have made around half a dozen clear chances but did not finish them off. Reid's lob hit the crossbar, missed a couple of others and their keeper made an outstanding double save. It seemed a matter of time before Torquay would score. However as the second half went on we seem to run out of ideas and Hungerford defended well. Hungerford nearly took the lead just before their goal but MacDonald showed a strong arm and saved brilliantly. But a couple of minutes later Hungerford scored a very good goal on the counter attack. Their directors and fans went crazy and who could blame them, they did a good job on us. Torquay had run out of steam and ideas.
I cannot think of any Torquay players who really caught the eye today. We had plenty of attacks but could not find a way through, the final pass often letting us down. Our defence looked solid enough but were undone twice in the last few minutes. No need to panic and Gary Johnson has plenty of months ahead to get things right again.

A bit frustrating as the ball wouldn’t hit the back of the net despite numerous chances which would have made the day that bit more special but all really secondary really. Nice to see Janneh back and receiving his medal and one more effort needed this Saturday before Johnson begins the rebuilding process.

We may have to disagree whether the term 'oversee' should be applied. I think we will. Overseeing the process might imply that TUST decided how, when and where votes could be registered - or at the very least had a say in the decision. By extension, it could hint that TUST decided how, when and where the award would be presented - or at the very least had a say in the decision. If there had been consultation, we may have seen more opportunities for wider participation - such as Chelston's suggestion: With regard to POTY, why can't you download a voting slip, fill it in and drop if off at the club? It could just be your personal opinion that Mr.Etherton's twitter post was 'weird', and your personal preference to select one of his three explanations and attach a 'main reason' tag to it. Grievances are usually, but I agree not always, listed in order of magnitude. It makes more sense to focus on the first one, whereas you ignored the first two and put all the blame on the third. The wording is definitely weird. Leaving aside "interferance", what about "but we have choice but to pack it in"? What does that mean? I also find it weird that somebody should allege he has a grievance, not discuss it at all with the body he thinks he has a grievance with but moan about it on social media instead. I understand that you would not find it weird as that is your modus operandi. At least Bob Etherton put his name to the tweet and did not hide behind a user name. By the way, if you know Bob I would be delighted to talk to him to find out more. Perhaps we could discuss it at the Fanzone, but don't worry if you are more comfortable sniping anonymously from behind a keyboard. Thanks for getting a table up by the Popside entrance. Lovely day out.

No problem. Not that I can take all the credit for the table. Glad you enjoyed your day.

Michael Luyambula (Hungerford Town ''keeper) and Marvel Ekpiteta(Defender)in the NLS team of Monday. Both looked pretty decent to me. As did Chris Hargreaves’s lad, Cameron.

A thought occurred to me this evening. As they are still technically part of the playing staff, do Banton, Essuman and Nabi also receive League winners' medals?

A thought occurred to me this evening. As they are still technically part of the playing staff, do Banton, Essuman and Nabi also receive League winners' medals? I would expect that a player needs to play in a minimum number of games to qualify for a medal. You may be right about that, although there would then be an anomaly, as I believe that Edwards (12 appearances), Vincent (12), Koszela (7) and Burton (0) all received medals, compared with Essuman (13), Nabi (11) and Banton (6), who may not have done. I don't expect that the three players who have been out on loan for many months would believe that they would be entitled to a medal, but it does open up an interesting question. Perhaps either players who are playing for other clubs on the day of the trophy presentation do indeed miss out, or the League's trophy and medal suppliers feel that they should limit their expenditure accordingly. If there is a league rule or policy which covers this circumstance, I should be pleased to know what it is.
