Simon I have no idea why you think that. I can think of more than one or two who have been crucial to past success, Wayne Carlisle comes to mind. ### Played for the shite, but now he's alright ...

Lots of rumours now on social media about the new signings with the experienced defender and striker previously talked about together with a central midfielder that will be familiar to all of us. If confirmed then another central defender and striker would be the most pressing positions.
Keepers - Macdonald. Covalan
Defenders - Wynter.Davis.Cameron.Slough, Price.
Midfielders- Whitfield, Hall Nemane, Buse, J Evans, Andrews and Little.
Strikers - Koszela

With pre season training possibly starting on Saturday then announcements are likely this week.

Well, if Wright signs he would never win the young player of the year award - he will be 36 in September!

I don't believe Danny Wright would be a direct replacement for Jamie Read if he is an incoming. At 36 he's at the very tail end of his playing career though was always a name that cropped up in the scoring stats regularly at our level and still may have something to offer with his strength, know how and ability to hold up the ball. Not sure I would want too many old legs in a very strong, high energy and very competitive division. No substitute for know how and experience and its the right thing to do but with Asa Hall with little pace and who was showing his age a bit and very natural fit athlete in Liam Davis it goes to show you cant write off players because of age. The likes of Danny Wright would be an option we haven't had in recent times and I reckon would be a plan "B" in GJ 's master plan of a high energy pressing, quick passing game that so many of the better sides have now adopted at all levels though it doesn't leave room for too many old legs. Big plus for me if CLE signs on again - maybe on a contract this time around its been hard enough over the years to find equivalent quality with scope to improve. Yes he struggled after a bad injury (one of a few Woking put out of the game last season) but has all the attributes to make it at a higher level
Reckon there will be names in the list of signings that are unexpected...

Presumably it won’t be long before we know of any new names of signings? Can only hope those that committed themselves to TUFC are true to their word.

Likely to be within the next week as July 31st / 1st August are the key dates for getting going again. With all the cutbacks to squads, think more power is with the clubs this season and most players will just be relieved that they have a deal.

Frustrating no news on signings but guess we have to be patient and GJ is convinced he has the right players coming in. Likely to hear more when the NL announce a start date or when training begins on the 1st. Anyway Ive heard we have a closed door friendly against Exeter City being billed in some quarters as - Exeter City v Exeter City "old boys".

Andrew Nelson came up through the ranks at Sunderland but a lot of his progress was curtailed by injury. Dundee signed him on a 2.5 year deal for an undisclosed fee with league one Barnsley in the running for his signature at the time. Still has a year left on his contract but due to financial restraints they made him available. Apparently has a hammer of a shot and works really hard. This is the Reid replacement with bags of potential.
Danny Wright is well known but worth mentioning he played at Cheltenham with Asa and Downes under Johnson.
As for the other three signings, an attacking midfielder (CLE?) and two central defenders (Warren and A.N.Other?) to be announced on Monday (2) and Tuesday (1)
