Personally I congratulate the effort today. At league level its clear to see teams don't just role over and we put in a fine effort and matched them for the most part. Once we lost our main strike threats we became vulnerable. Some may say poor substitutions but the front three had put in awful lot of work that gave us the upper hand. Nothing against those who came on they did all they could but Armani is still short of match time, Umerah is physical but lacks a bit technically and Waters hasn't kicked a ball in anger in nine months. We should be proud of that performance Crawley just kept believing and got the result with more quality left on the pitch. Hope the Keeper is ok it didn't look good and we seemed to suffer more after the injury.

Not bothered at all to be honest, and with the ‘Holy Grail’ of cup competitions coming up, we can’t afford to be fighting on three fronts! Also, we know who we would be getting out of the hat tomorrow...Crompton Wanderers or someone of that ilk away from home! Their winning goal coming from a deflection off one of our players arses!
Is that Thomas fella a closet Plymouth/Exeter supporter, every two minutes he reminded us that both those teams were through already!

Guess we join a fairly small number of clubs who have scored 5 in a FA Cup match and lost. Every silver lining has a cloud.

Gary Johnson
Hope to be able to see some highlights before too long, but sounds as if it was a belter of a game. Assuming we played our current favoured formation, GJ will realise that every other Manager in the National League will be keen to watch the highlights as well, if a clear pathway through to our goal has been exposed.
On their day Crompton Wanderers, particularly at their place, can give anyone a tough game. So we avoid that, but plenty of other trips North in the League, and it's those matches and points we need to focus on now.

Gary Johnson  Hope to be able to see some highlights before too long, but sounds as if it was a belter of a game. We played our now normal shape until bringing Warren on to shore up the lead and changed to three Centre-Backs. It was either 5 or 6 we conceded after that move, but understand why we did it. Was a good one for the neutral, as they say. Like others and yourself, AJ, I’m not too concerned and look forward to hearing there are no fresh injury concerns, Armani having got a few more minutes challenging for a starting place soon; the fruits of the lessons learned for our younger players; punishing Boreham Wood next weekend for our errors today and continuing our focus on the National League. We have the Manager to enable these lads to bounce back from it. And his interview up shows he’s already thinking as you would expect and preparing them all to move onto the next one.

McGill has been discharged from hospital after suffering from heavy concussion. - linkNot too worried about letting in six as they were all late on and after substitutions had been made against a side going very well in league 2. Certainly were the better side in the first half.

Still gutted. Can't remember the last time we had an FA Cup run. Hopefully we will learn from the experience. We should have been able to see this one out. Every day is a school day.

link - Johnson has watched the video of this game and is actually proud of the lads as Crawley stepped up and came out with some top-notch quality goals and no one is to blame. Shows his experience also by calling a couple of the younger lads to see how they were the next day as he gees them up for the only campaign which matters - the league!

Recovering physically from a fairly intense game that went on in excess of two hours is a hard enough task in itself for the players in time for Saturday, without being weighed down mentally with lingering disappointment, and dwelling on getting knocked out of the Cup.
Johnson knows it was by far the best opposition (a team doing very well in the next division up after all) we've faced this season, and we more than matched them for the vast majority of that long contest. So keeping things in perspective, lifting spirits, and getting positive thoughts dominating again in time for Saturday is definitely what's needed.
Any areas where we can tighten up etc, then they can be worked on in training now and over coming weeks. Emphasis on continued improvement rather than publicly identifying mistakes to magnify is surely in the team's best interests, as Johnson proves he's well aware of.

GJ hits the nail on the head and puts things in perspective as any good manager does in this latest interview. www.devonlive.com/sport/football/torquay-united-fans-should-proud-4689066?fbclid=IwAR3T95rd_FCMQsFAFR2dkSBViMv36i6lYNKPp6OH6lf9c4ENqP0HuPFNoJ8When players put in so much effort for two hours and are narrowly beaten there's always a the danger of a negative psychological reaction. Seen it numerous times in the past and GJ will be very wary of that. The players have been magnificent, particularly the young loanees and its important they know supporters are right behind them. Shame we can't cheer and applaud in a live match and certain if we had been there on Sunday the "extra man" would have given us the edge. Interesting to see Crawley beat second place in their league above Ipswich Town last night in the EFL. A wounded Borham Wood to face at the weekend who narrowly lost again last night and are struggling to hit the net but have only conceded four - one less than ourselves. Hard to believe they have been struggling to score goals with a choice of proven quality up top in ex loan Coulthirst, Tshimanga and old adversary Matt Rhead. We must be very wary that they will "click" at some point. That's a lot of frustrated forward talent. Some odd stats in the division. Wealstone in second have conceded FIFTEEN goals while Halifax fourth from bottom, just FOUR! Clearly there are clubs struggling with the empty ground format.
