So we are back to league action this weekend in a strange month with just three league games, all of which are within a week of each other so must make them all count.
We seem to have a settled starting 11 with no shortage of goals having scored 14 in the last three games! I am not concerned about the defence despite that flurry of late goals against Crawley who are a good side that seem to be clicking with another mid week 2-0 win against Ipswich who are second in league one. We made them look very ordinary in the first half and “Johnson’s game” does seems to be a winning formula at the moment.
Who would have thought that a settled midfield three would not include Little starting for us but it does shows our strength in depth. With extra time on Saturday he has had his longest run out yet on the road back to match fitness and is probably now fit enough to at least start and ready to both challenge for a starting place and to go into the breach when necessary.
With a strike force of Tshimanga, Coulthirst and Rhead and having conceded only four league goals Boreham Wood look to be a very useful side. Bit of a surprise then that they lost 0-1 at home to lowly Dagenham midweek and with a 2-1 loss at Wrexham and a scoreless game at home to Halifax before then they are now floundering somewhat in mid table.
Back to steaming this weekend with TUFC for the first time they have done it since Chesterfield on 13 October so will be interesting to see if they continue to make improvements.

Boreham were my pre season tip to go up but any side with that strike force and only 5 goals from 6 in the league has a problem. That said sooner or later you'd expect that dam to burst, hope it isn't Saturday though.

I can quite understand why Pete had tipped Boreham Wood to be in the promotion shake up this season. I was quite impressed with them last term, when I believe they were the visitors in one of the very earliest home matches. Yet whenever I checked the league table (not too often actually) they seemed to be struggling. Next thing I knew, they were in the play-offs ! A rapid climb for sure. A substantial chunk of Arsenal money coming in I believe. Either the Arsenal women or a youth side or two use the Boreham ground to stage their games. No doubt expenses covered with a fair bit left over once the Arsenal cheque for using the facilities has been cashed. Boreham Wood will be eager to get their season going and are sure to be no pushover. One of my tips top be challenging at the top with a squad full of threat and talent. On current form another three points for the mighty Gulls would appear to be a formality and Wood will go into the match as underdogs something that could work in their favor. That along with our potentially damaging defeat last weekend could have an influence on the outcome. Defensively they have the best record in the division but surprisingly are having problems hitting the net having hit only five times in six league games.
We must be on our guard, at some point they're sure click up top and start scoring goals.

Match day and it’s a bit of a wet and wild one. At least we have had a fair bit of experience in playing to these conditions recently. Not sure about how this will impact on the match?
Earlier coverage today starting at 2pm. 😀
