Guilty on all counts and rightly so!
This bad apple bum of a disgraced ex-police officer has got exactly what he deserved!
Well done, Stefano!

FORECAST: Not Guilty all counts 😉 Guilty on all counts. The jury has spoken. From the little I know about the case feels like the right decision.

FORECAST: Not Guilty all counts 😉 Guilty on all counts. Looks like my forecast was consistent with my football ones! 😉 Lots of grounds for appeal mind. A video used in the trial seen world wide within hours of the incident, too much political and emotional pressure on the jury, and not the least a USA politician stating publicly whilst the case was still going on that she hoped it would be a guilty verdict. Keep the thread alive as there is a lot of water to flow under Bideford bridge before it is all finished. I assume we are keeping the President Trump thread open as well as (God willing! 😉) he will be contesting the 2024 Presidential election 😯

Without the video evidence, how would the truth ever have been seen? The jury were given the full and visible version of this appalling assault, and there was no need for emotions to influence them. It is unlikely that such a crime will often be captured on film in the future, but the addition of the police bodycam records is here to stay, and that can only be a good thing.

I've just caught up on this thread and compliments on an excellent discussion - I'm not taking the pee - it's a rare phenomenum on any sort of BB.
I can't add much new - only that, for me, I don't believe for a second that Chauvin had any wish to or thought about killing poor George Floyd. And that's the frightening bit - to be so bloody thick and unaware - just not having a clue !
WHAT is a numb brained moron like Chauvin doing anywhere near the inside of a Police uniform ? And judging by the parade of events like this and similar, Chauvin is not the only Member of the Police who needs an injection with the 'humanity vaccine' if it becomes available !!

I can see that there could be an appeal against the sentence, whatever it turns out to be, but not against the indisputable facts. I also agree that it would have come to light by now if there were going to be one.

I'm truly astounded reading this thread through. Everyone deserves a fair trial but I'm totally flabbergasted that anyone could see any good intentions in this man, defend his actions or make dumb arse excuses that Floyd died from other issues. Thank God the jury cam equickly to a verdict, thought exactly the same and were of the same view. I am not a fan of discussing sensitive issues such as this and had no idea that this thread was running on here but the evidence is their for all to see - There is no defense whatsoever for this "protector of the people" actions he was just far to stupid and dumb not to realise he was being filmed and thought he would get away with it as hundreds had previously when the law closes ranks. If it hadn't been filmed he would no doubt got away with murder as many racist American cops have for decades. I have been following the case closely mainly because my daughter lives in the USA, has a mixed race boyfriend and has close hand experience of racism and a culture of shoot first and ask questions after. Chauvin didn't use a weapon he just used another method to squeeze every breath from the man and cause Floyds death. With hate filled eyes he was on an adrenaline trip and shaking after the event. Have you watched the film right through? He knew exactly what he was doing and wanted Floyd dead.. Gun culture and the guns for all way of life is an American disease that creatses a fear culture will continue to cause death and destruction to innocents. Even my peace loving daughter was gifted one by her now ex army husband who owned and was ready to use one of his collection of automatic handguns if necessary. Who the hell would want to live in fear like that every day? Its no wonder trigger happy cops with racist tendencies shoot and kill the innocent mostly black male youths. I do feel for the large percentage of US police who are not racist or trigger happy and who genuinely want to do a good job but the wrong-uns need to be weeded out and held account. My now sadly deceased gentle mother in law once quite innocently passed over a forged £5 note at a fish and chip shop in St Ives many years ago. She was shocked horrified and had been duped herself when accepting change. She was upset and apologetic. Fortunately she wasn't forced to the ground an didn't have a knee on her neck for 9 minutes and can report didn't lose her life..

Well pete f it is disappointing that you have read a 4 page thread and been astounded by it, and jumped to conclusions as to what I thought about it. I am surprised by that.
It was the 'jumping to conclusions' point that I addressed throughout the thread and the importance of the criminal justice system in deciding guilt or innocence.
The opening post kicked the thread off with a clear statement that the accused was guilty. This was before the trial had started properly it still being at the selection of jurors and opening speeches stage. I am sorry if this offends anybody but I believe in the criminal system and the importance of the presumption of innocence and a case being proved beyond reasonable doubt by the evidence presented to the court, not in the old posse system of rounding up the person you believe to be guilty and hanging him from the nearest tree.
Nowhere in the thread did I express a view on guilt or innocence of the accused. The emphasis throughout was on fairness being provided by a properly conducted trial.
The "dumb ass excuses" you refer to that the deceased may have died from something else did not come from me.....it was evidence presented in court which is as it should be.
There is a right of appeal of course but I have no idea if he will or if he does what the grounds would be. As with the trial it is essential that any appeal be properly conducted and fair.
William Blackstone was a greater mind than I and his assertion that "It is better that 10 guilty men go free than 1 innocent man is wrongly convicted" still holds true, and is arguably even more important in these backward countries which still have capital punishment.

Its nothing personal Stefano. Its my strong sense of justice kicking in I'm afraid. I had probably read far to many ridiculous excuses that many were making in defense of this man on the US trail you tube stream. Separatism, division and ethnic prejudice encouraged by the former President has also plays a part in my views and opinions. This heinous crime was committed during in his tenure. Chauvin and others were almost given license and opened up the Hornets nest for the White supremacists. The storming of the Capitol building was part of the same extremist plan to divide the country. Fortunately enough of the US population could to see the evil that was happening and voted against white supremacists but they haven't gone away and you can be sure many are "racist sleepers" in the police force.
Chauvin certainly had a fair trial and was unanimously found guilty of his crimes. It was extremely fortunate that someone had the sense to video record the event or I fear he would have remained a free man. As I mentioned it's a little close to home for our family.
Enjoy the game tonight Stefano - I'll try but its all getting a bit tight at the top and Saturdays intense game was draining for the players. Can we maintain our form? is the big question.
