As far as our title hopes go, this is a huge six pointer, one we really need to win to level our points tally and give us real momentum and build pressure going into the last 6 weeks of the season. Anything else and we will be looking for them to slip up and a top three finish may then become the focus.
Sutton are not an easy side to beat, since they played us at the end of January, just lost in the league once, in the very next game narrowly 0-1 at home to current league leaders Hartlepool. Part of their success has been keeping players fit, in their 31 league games, 10 players have started in 25 or more, the eleventh is on 21. Compare that with us, just 5 have done that in 32 league games and two, Cameron and Whitfield are currently injured. Remains to be seen whether that will be an advantage with fresher players in the last stages of the season.
The good news is that we have regained the winning habit, aided by having our talisman striker Danny Wright back having played around 30, 60 and then 80 minutes in his three games and no coincidence that we have won all three. We are just missing Cameron, Whitfield and Nemane from the successful pre Christmas starting XI but Randell, Andrews and Lewis are good quality back ups to have. (Positional in the case of Randell who is currently my player of the season) Only selection dilemma I can see is Law or Moxey to start and with the latter seeing Red in the previous Sutton game up against their quick right winger and with only 45 minutes under his belt since returning from injury, is not likely to be on the pitch for the full game one way or another.
Sutton were scheduled to play Dover last Saturday, hence their game in hand but we were due to play them this coming Saturday so at least we can give it everything and will then know better where we are on Saturday with the same games left to play, ranging from being above them or nine points adrift..... COYY!
