Familiar story as we lose on penalties. Pickford did well but if you can’t score 3 of your penalties in the first five then you don’t deserve to win….

The biggest pressure sittuation needed the older heads to step up for the pens. Italy were the better side technically and kept hold of the ball when we couldn't though we were well organised and limited their chances. We must get better and match what the opposition sowed us tonight. Then we really will be a force.

Oh well. It was a great National Anthem! 😉 You’re right - ‘God Save The Queen’ is the bollocks of anthems

The bottom line really is that the best team won.
England played extremely well and dominated the first half. There were chances to increase the lead and had they been taken it may have been different.
From the start of the second half though the superior technical ability and overall know how of the Italians came to the fore! Once they equalised was there really going to be any other winner? England did brighten up in extra time but never seriously threatened, and the best chances fell to Italy.
So to penalties and what do we do? Bring on two players with one minute of extra time left to take penalties. Neither up to speed and settled in to the game and neither having even touched the ball before their penalty. Both missed! Talk about a manager creating players in his own image!
Boris Johnson wasn't that displeased though as he is on the telly first thing in the morning so that he can tell the nation how Marcus Rashford should take penalties and how he should do his job. What goes round comes round! Getting the ball on target to give the keeper a test would be a start!
Still at least there was a great National Anthem at the start! 😉🇮🇹

One Manager got his tactics spot on, the other cocked it up. The FA need to employ a penalty coach. Just reading that Sako has NEVER taken a penalty for his club, surely some of the senior players (Sterling/Grealish) should have taken the important 5th penalty.
