Good day out, came up with my wife, stopped off at Dorchester for lunch and had time for a quick walk around Poole Quay in the sunshine before driving up to the ground where there was free parking at the school next to the ground. Speaking to a Poole supporter on the way in,he was really looking forward to his first game for 18 months as he hadn’t been able to get to any of their away games.
Stood behind the Poole goal for both halves so got more of a feel for our attacking play but we lined up in a straight forward 4-4-2 with Lolos partnering Wright up front in the first half and Koszela in the second. We had 2 trialists, number 14 partnering Lapslie in central midfield and number 15 on the right wing. We had Moxey, Wynter and Wright being the only players to start the last two games for us. XI completed with Halstead in Goal, Omar and Slough in central defence and O’Connell on the left wing.
Initial impressions on the new signings bearing in mind it is only a PSF and only at the end of the first week at the club….
Halstead - looks very comfortable and made a great double save late in the the first half and would suggest at least as good as Covolan at his best.
Brzozoski -didn’t have too much to do but calmly caught a free kick attempt late in the second half.
Omar - seemed solid enough in more ways than one, worked well with Slough who looks like a proper player now.
Lapslie - he is a terrier, gets stuck in and does the business. Good signing.
O’Connell - thought he started really well and had a very good first half causing a lot of problems and getting some good crosses in.
Lolas - my man of the match, very calm in the opposition area and created a lot of problems. Could have scored two in the first half, should have scored one but fired over with just the goalie to beat, created and scored a goal in the second half and at only 20 is going to get better. High hopes for him this season.
Martin - came on in the second and did a good job both in defence and attack.
Piper / Moyse - came on in the second half and acquitted themselves well and did not look out of place.
Trialist 14 - did a job in midfield but nothing spectacular.
Trialist 15 - looked a threat on the right, possibly his best move late on should have been an assist but was then left clutching the back of his leg. Walked off without too much discomfort but o dear, here we go again….
