Durham or Southport away. Not a bad draw but surely it's about time we had a home draw!!!!!

As Durham's just down the road from me, I hope they win their replay!

Southport are old opponents from the Football League and still play at Haig Avenue. If we hang around this league, we could well play them again.
Durham City have been off our radar up-to-now. There was a Durham City club in the Football League in the 1920s which played at a long-gone ground. The current club was formed in the 1950s and has played at various grounds over the years.
This season they are playing in a league with teams from outside the NE for the first time, having stepped up from the Northern League to the (Unibond) Northern Prem Div 1 (N) - same level on the pyramid as Chipstead, Truro, Taunton, etc.
They're unbeaten in fifteen league games - with games in hand on the leaders - which suggests they're splashing the money around. Crowds are around 200 which, I believe, is something of an improvement. If they've the best players from the Northern League they'll be a handful.
Durham took Histon to a replay in the FA Cup which looks like they are punching well above their weight. The home game against Histon took place at Eppleton Colliery Welfare in Hetton-le-Hole (which has been used by Sunderland Reserves). I seem to remember there was a grading controversy over their pitch in Durham last summer.

Not a bad draw but almost so far away. Only Barrow and Workington are further away?

Barrow is further than Southport but similar to Durham.
Typical after a whole host of home saturdays we then have two extremely long away trips with Barrow the week after.

If we get Durham City after the replay, the club could do now harm in booking some flights with Flybe as they have there sale on. £70ish return can't be bad and could be offset from the prize fund. We did it for York City last year and as you say we have Barrow away the week after the players could do with without 2 marathon trips in 7 days.

If Durham win the replay we are in for a new experience.................................they play on a 3G artificial surface - hence the game going ahead last Saturday!

Which suggests the artificial pitch is allowed in the FA Trophy but not the FA Cup given Durham played their two FA Cup ties elsewhere this season. Have already won a couple of away replays this season with a good record against Conference North teams so it's not over yet (but Southport are 2nd in that league). I see Durham knocked Curzon Ashton out of the trophy. Didn't they beat...

Well no new experience having to play on a 3G artificial surface (not sure what the 3g means?) for the team, while it will be a difficult game, I see no reason why we should not win the game and move on to round four.

It's Durham that play on the 3G pitch Dave but they lost!! (You should get some sleep before another early start in the morning no doubt)
