Merry Christmas everyone and hope you are having a good festive break. Home game tomorrow as we look to try and climb out of the relegation zone against a Yeovil side not too far above us and looking to keep their advantage prior to the return fixture on New Year’s Day. Not sure if the likes of Lapslie and Hall will be fit but will need a strong side all playing well to get a much needed win. TUFC match preview

Not looking forward to this at all; hopefully we can summon up something from somewhere and claim a decent result.

Lapslie on the bench.
Very lightweight midfield.
Wyatt starts. Is he match fit? Doubt it.
No Moxey or Hall. Marshall seemingly out of favour

Yeovil too poor to take advantage of our flimsy midfield .... for now.

Very poor I thought, Yeovil are not a good side by any measure, amateurish getting caught on the break like that. Looks like Xmas fixture against Taunton next season now.

Same old story, nothing changes. Its all been, said pretty pointless commenting on yet another disappointing result. So much for a must win game. We will soon see if the will and desire is there to retain our NL status with the window about to open and the final opportunity to change our fortunes. Cant see it myself.

I don't think the desire is there, given that there is no transfer window limitations on the National League and other sides have been signing players recently whilst we have done nothing. Mind you, you can see Johnson signing a crocked Ellis now and Barrow running their hands in glee.

Still away for Christmas so watched the game for the first time on the new national league streaming service. Thought it was a fair result in the end as we were much better team in the first half and could’ve scored more but Yeovil were much better in the second half and again could’ve scored more. Hope Ellis is okay but need some more fit bodies next week with Crowe now suspended.

Just not good enough and we know this team will get us relegated. As usual there was no lack of effort but there is simply a lack of quality which is propped up by our loan players.
We were good in patches and created some chances with some lovely team moves but the end product was not there. Our goal was a fortunate header by Ellis that just crept over the line. we rarely troubled their keeper and at the other end Halstead saved us around 5 times with some outstanding goalkeeping some bordering on being amazing. There were times when Torquay were hanging on and were getting sliced open at will by Yeovil and yet somehow they kept surviving. Yeovil, who are no great shakes themselves, deserved their equalizer and could consider themselves unfortunate not to win with their clearer chances created. Torquay ended the game playing with 9 men following Ellis injury and Crowe's second bookable offence.
The bright spots today. Donnellan did very well pairing with Ellis at centre back and was voted sponsors MOTM. Donnellan could be our best answer in that position. However both our full backs were suspect especially Wyatt today. Wearne seems to have found his form and Goodwin did some good runs at times. Evans was decent at times and it was his powerful shot that was diverted in by Ellis for our goal. I thought Jarvis had a game to forget. He worked hard but little went right for him today. McGavin did find his passes well in midfield. De Silva was quiet today and after his booking was running a tightrope so I think it was right he was substituted.
As usual there was little on the bench to change the game. Andrews came on late and thanks to his misplaced pass sent Yeovil clear and Halstead rescued us. Says it all really. The club are making no noises that we are going to strengthen the squad so this current squad will take us down. Today was another huge opportunity that was missed. As I said, we tried our best but we are not good enough.

Well that could and perhaps should have been worse. First half all us and Yeovil didn’t threaten too much and their much vaunted defence looked vulnerable and shaky.
Second half things looked different and it was obvious they’d score at some point.
Very little to feel positive about although Halstead, McGavin and perhaps Donnelan deserve credit. Some fans were calling for subs to be brought on but in all honesty there was nobody on the bench who could improve things.
Crowe being red carded at least means we are spared him for the next game but to replace him (and very likely Mark Ellis) it means we might face the horrifying prospect of a Marshall/Omar CD pairing for the next game which is likely to result in a bit of a hiding based on today - not that Yeovil look anything special at all - just less crap than we are.
I didn’t see it but some were saying that Gary Johnson was sent off after the game so makes things very different for the return game.

Nothing changes from week to week. Same mistakes, same poor quality in key areas. Totally lost faith in the club, the management and the playing squad. The wheels haven't come off quite yet but they continue plodding along in a deep rut unable to escape on a journey to the division below. The highlights dont lie we should have lost yet another home game today and it could have easily been yet another embarrasing score line but for some incredible goalkeeping. There has been marginal improvement from the first games of the season but the base point was so low its almost unnoticeable. More injury woes key players who cant stay fit, more suspensions on the horizon and no sign from anywhere of anything to try and improve the situation . As bad as it gets but we could all see this coming from day one of this season couldn't we?

The only good thing to come out of this season is the keeper, with most people thinking he was the weakest link of the team when we started…or when we actually do decide to start!
That lot up the road would be getting ready to sell him for a Zillion Quid, whereas we will sell him for a poultry sum at the end of the season no doubt!
I know I will get the bird for that, but it is still Christmas. 🦃

If we added up the value of the entire bloody squad it would only amount to a paltry sum.
As we prepare ourselves to enter 2023 I have just about abandoned all hope, and I think a New Year stuffing in leafy Somerset will reinforce that feeling of gloom.
Happy New Year it will not be! 😉⚽️
