I see that Austin Booth (Currently working at SDC) has bought himself out of his contract due to other interests, wondered if it is us, Pete Johnson looking locally 😆

However, National League clubs, including Dagenham, were also showing an interest. He is definitely someone we could do with.

Agree....it makes sense to sign him...which probably means it won't happen.

Ollie Bray has been loaned from Aldershot (scored their consolation at Hawthorns) to Truro. The ex Willand player. Did we enquire?
Given Austen Booth has not been announced by anyone, I’d say it’s nearly nailed on he is on the teamsheet for us tomorrow as it’s what we do. Hope so as he will be a useful addition.

I hope we have signed Booth. However..if true..it makes no sense for a team to sign a player and not make an official announcement.

I hope we have signed Booth. However..if true..it makes no sense for a team to sign a player and not make an official announcement. … which is exactly why he may well have signed for us. He won’t have signed for a normal club. He may not have found a club, he may have signed for Dynamo Kremlin in the Russian Superleague or he may have signed for us. With the team’s dreadful performances, failure to strengthen the squad and the manager’s daft comments making even the most loyal fans doubt whether they should bother to go, you would think announcing a new signing might help just a little bit. But that is not how the club does it and the club is always right. If supporters are too stupid to attend, they are the wrong kind of supporters. IF the company running the football club wants the football club to survive, it needs all the supporters it can get. I was going to say IF the club wants the club to survive, but that sounded ridiculous!

Announced three hours ahead of the expected 2pm! Pleased with this. Sensible to sign an oven-ready player who is good quality for this league. Under our noses all the time and better than Donnellan, Crowe, Marshall, Hanson and Tomlinson. Equally at home as a centre back who can play or a ball-winning midfielder. I suspect he will solve our centre back crisis today, but when Moxey is back I would quite like to see him deployed as a midfield anchor. It has absolutely shocked me this season to see how easily we let half-decent opposition waltz through our midfield and get at our centre backs unhindered. Austen could stop that, win the ball and distribute it sensibly. Have seen him quite a few times over the years. Nico had a good look at him in his last pre-season here. Impressed me then, but not quite first team ready at the time. I am sure if Nico had stayed, he would have kept a close eye on his development. He was at Truro when they groundshared at Plainmoor, so I saw him a few times then and his brief post-covid Buckland stint saw him light up my first post-covid football match with a McGavin style screamer of a goal. I really hope it works out well for him as it would be great to have a local lad in the team on merit. He is a great advertisement for the kind of post-16 sports education programmes available nowadays. Only a very tiny minority will go on to full-time professional football but he has already shown how you can work on your football and the other skills necessary to earn a decent hybrid living - part-time coaching / teaching and part- time football. Let’s hope that he can enjoy full-time football for quite a few years before having to dust off those other skills again.

Not sorry to see Hanson go.
A mid-table National League South player at best. I think he is from Kent so Tonbridge is a good move for him.
Was hoping we could move him, and a few others!, on in the summer. I suppose players will not walk away from a year of pay way above what they merit, but when down to a few months will trade a lower wage for the security of a longer contract.

De Silva gone....who's next? I think this might have happened even if events since last week hadn’t happened, tbh. Wasn’t getting any game time. Half expected that we might have heard similar about Lewis Collins the moment Stobbes returned from injury.
