Just about deserved that, one swallow and all that…
Big strong CB, midfielder and one or two strikers still required.

Oh dear, could there have possibly been a worse result?
Had we lost, Johnson’s position would have been on a knife edge, and had he not been got rid of, people would realise there was some sort of skulduggery going on…skulduggery, now where have I heard that before?
So now we get: ‘oh let’s see what happens after ten games’—‘oh let’s see what happens after the Christmas period’—‘oh let’s see what happens at the end of the season’—‘oh let’s see what happens next season!’ I would imagine the first part will consist of two wins, two draws and two losses…and everyone will be happy.🙂

I was quite impressed with Marshall’s interview and I was impressed with him last night.
I’ve tended to consider him a hotheaded liability but I guess if he couldn’t see properly, it explains some of his less than happy performances. I thought he played with a certain level of maturity and when he won the ball , passed it out wide and carried on running, you sensed he was about to score. I think he is potentially one player who might come to the fore this season and turn things around based on how he played last night. I hope he keeps it up.

This was the kind of game I expected to see a lot of this season. Stubborn opposition happy to go way with a point and happy to waste as much time as possible to do so. Onus on us to break them down.
Worthing had not read the script and decided to wipe the floor with us instead.
The new directive saw all the time wasted added on, not just a token two or three minutes. Although we scored in the third minute of stoppage time, I am sure this helped us. Seeing the board go up (luckily we remembered that we are now in a league where we have to provide someone to hold the board up) with eleven minutes on was a kick in the guts to Chippenham. Like a marathon runner reaching the finish line only to be told they had another six miles to run.
This was a far better performance than against Worthing, but not Championship-winning standard.
Shape (4-4-2) was far better. Players looked like they knew what they were supposed to be doing. Would not have Donnellan Marshall Tomlinson Martin down as a Championship winning back four though. Lapslie and Hall are a fit for purpose middle two but highly unlikely to ever last ninety minutes.
When Hall went down he signalled game over. We made him hobble around for five minutes before taking him off. Will that cost us? Hope not but expect it will.
Hanson should have come on as a straight swap, but a combative midfielder who cannot time a tackle so is booked every time he makes one is as much use as a chocolate teapot. We could have pushed Donnellan into midfield, but that would have meant playing Crowe at right back. We went with Jenkins Davies who is really too lightweight to be in a two in centre midfield. We got away with it as we were on the front foot and Lapslie was on it.
Jarvis was below par but seems that he played most of the game with a dead leg. Will that have done him any good? Doubt it. Why didn’t we bring on a sub striker? Stupid question.
Moxey was missing because we brought him on against Worthing when he was not match-fit and left him on after he injured himself stretching for a ball he was not fit enough to get to. How much extra damage did that do?
We are in a catch 22 vicious circle in that we do not have enough decent players so we overwork the ones we have and knacker them by doing so.
We desperately need the cavalry to arrive in the shape of three or four decent loanees.
