NLS: Aveley v Torquay United 3pm 02/09/2023

Glad we have what appears to be a tough test this weekend. Are we improving or are the recent positive, some would argue fortunate results deceiving us all? Another promising young player joins from the squad from Southampton for a month and will surely have something to prove though would imagine he will get limited game time initially anyway.


With Hall and Moxey struggling for fitness and at the very tail end of their careers i would like to see an experienced central defender arrive, a guy branston type and who could offer the experience and leadership across the back line we seem to be missing. A rare beast these days so anticipate more inexperienced players to bolster the squad. Still in shock that our Saturdays are occupied by playing "big village" clubs like Aveley who no doubt can attract young talent from many top london clubsf.


Its a tough one to swallow especially when you consider how our local rivals have progressed in recent times. Another £million player sale i see and continuing to do very well on the pitch. Three ways to go for us as a club. Drop further down the pyramid, stagnate in this division or show some real intent to at least return quickly to the next higher level.
The first two options are unthinkable for me.

How long do you regard as initially? Read again I said "Imagine" Im not the manager!
To me he's obviously here for cover our two main strikers and will likely be starting games on the bench unless either of the two main strikers get injured or suspended.

Who of Jarvis or Ash would you drop or would you start him above those two?

Think Chelston will be pleased to see a “fabled substitute striker” on the bench, particularly when we have matches close together.

Marshall fit, Collins not. De Silva starts, Pearce on bench.
