Big day in the history of our club today as one chapter closes and another opens. Another 2 hour TUST meeting last night to discuss the mechanics of the bid following further meetings with consortium members by others on the board during the day and further communication since! Come 5pm there will be at least one bid on the table so the club will be able to continue although there is still a lot of digging to get out of the hole we find ourselves in. A massive amount of work has been done by Michael Westcott and Co to get to this stage and it always amazes me what people are prepared to do for this club. TUST should be able to release a further statement tomorrow and would imagine the club will do so as well. If the TUST bid is successful then there will need to be a lot of updating and consultation with our membership as the due diligence process continues and next steps are agreed. If the bid is unsuccessful then as always TUST will look to work constructively with the new ownership for the betterment of the club. Thanks for the update and also many, many thanks to all those at TUST who have worked tirelessly, without any hidden agenda to try and enable our club to be saved. I’m not confident that the TUST bid will be successful, not because I doubt them or their thoroughness in putting a bid together, but simply because this is Clarke Osborne we are talking about and I cannot see him doing anything that works for TUST and more likely any Edwards/Masters/Hayman ownership probably leaves the door slightly open, at least, for him to keep an eye on any stadium developments. I will be gutted if any of those three are involved in owning the club and it will just feel like the war is still to be fought if they own the club.

Other than Masters asked Bernard Noble to set up a supporters club, which he did, when they had a supporters trust already at Truro and introducing Osborne’s loan to the Club, I don’t know too much more about him other than what I have read on BTPIR previously about that and him, I must confess. Not the recent fanboy stuff as I tend to either switch off or counter that, but stuff discussed before February 22nd.
If it is to be him, I’d like to see a better relationship with fans than “the Noble trick” Edwards tried and failed once here, tbh.I’d like to see no further influence on property development for a new stadium from anything connected to Osborne and Edwards. The latter issue has its track record in killing clubs already. And obviously I’d like a winning team that can be afforded.
I see Dave Thomas has rowed back from his ‘full time or nothing’ on comms on Monday in his latest article - he talks of hybrid model - while stating we have a stadium fit for EFL. Probably a bit of sense from him there, tbh, and maybe a taster of what other bidders closer to him think, perhaps?
Again, I agree with the point hector makes if it is Osborne who is choosing. Hell, he may even have suggested Mel Hayman backs a Masters bid (but don’t mention George), we really don’t know. But what we do know about Osborne is that our future sustainability is not his concern. Property development is. It is where he has excelled for his benefit for many years. And as he told fans from a sofa a few months ago, he is obsessed with building new stadiums, so who are we to know how deep rooted that obsession is!!

Torquay United AFC announce the appointment of administrators.
Torquay United AFC Limited has released the following statement from Begbies Traynor:
Scott Kippax, Neil Vinnicombe and Simon Haskew of Begbies Traynor have been appointed as joint administrators of Torquay United AFC Limited. They are legally advised by Robin Koolhoven of Stephens Scown LLP.
The administrators said the appointment signifies a positive step towards transfer of ownership. A further announcement is anticipated within the next two weeks when the administrators hope to confirm that the Club’s future has been secured. Creditors will be notified and can direct any queries to secretary@torquayunited.com in the meantime.

Correct me if I am wrong, but does this mean Osborne has effectively rejected all the offers to buy the club from him; or is he just unable to choose and has phoned a friend (Begbie) for help? I find myself further confused by this announcement than I was before it...

As I see it Osbourne no longer has a say in who takes over and will end up with little or nothing from his and GI's investment so is now effectively out of the equation. Probably a bit late now but I do wonder if there will be other interested parties coming forward as perhaps others may have been holding back until this deadline and decision was reached.
Open season now on who takes it on and would guess the administrators will now have to decide on the way forward and we will soon be finding out who the other parties are.
Oh to be a fly on the wall these past months. we can only guess at the turmoil and disagreement within the management structure. Exactly where did we spend that 1.1 million that saw us with a crap limited squad and relegation from the NL.
Do we have any access to the clubs detailed accounts or is it just general information ?. Pretty sure that would tell us a few stories.

Thanks for the link Rags. Pretty basic purely for revenue purposes etc though. I would guess any prospective purchaser will have access to the detailed TUFC account reports from the past few seasons to show exactly where that massive spend went though highly likely these detailed reports will be confidential. I guess we will probably never know where that money went but incredible that he let the situation continue as long as he did and in exactly the same vein as previous seasons with no apparent brake on expenditure. Tells us one thing that we already knew.

Thanks for the link Rags. Pretty basic purely for revenue purposes etc though. That's true, but it has suddenly dawned on me that shareholders might get more detailed accounts. All we need is one of them to tell us if they did, and possibly share some of the detail.
