I and 29 others will be at the next home game supporting the team and putting extra money into the club so don't you go questioning my support, Crikey Dave. I hope there are more going than that or else Bucks will be 'effin and blindin' on Radio Devon at 5 o'clock. One good thing is that, the lower the crowd, the more chance we'll have of asking for the kick-off to be delayed once Dave starts his speech....

To admit the performance wasn't great and will be rectified? I'd appreciate that kind of honesty personally. Hmmm. A wee bit different to "putting HIS performance under the microscope" methinks. And he's offered those remarks on more than one occassion already this season. I don't recall appreciation being offered by many.

To be fair I don't think that this just happens at Plainmoor. Myself and Ealing Gull went to see table topping Brentford last week to watch them play the an in-form Chesterfield side. I didn't feel that I was mingling with supporters who were supporting a team top of the table, but as the game went on and Chesterfield got better and better you could hear the supporters frustration they weren't beating a side who were mid table. Frustration on terraces was translated onto the pitch and the performance got worse as the frustration grew.
Most of us know that league position counts for bugger all apart from when you're near the top and when you're near the bottom. If you're towards the bottom the pressure is on to improve performances to better your league position and if you're near the top the expectation is that you'll have to beat every team below you to stay there. I don't think Grays are a bad side to be honest and they competed against us gamely a few weeks ago in the away game.
I agree with some of Merse's comments. I do think that there is an element of we're too good for this league and people don't want to spend 15 quid to watch non league football. You would think that the ones who do turn up week-in week-out are the ones that really want the club to do better. If the rumours are true about Carlisle getting more stick from the popside then I find that appalling. We would be at least 12 points worse off if it hadn't been for his late winners. Is it any wonder he plays better away from home?

I was paraphrasing Rob. It wasn't meant to be an exact script for him. Just to clarify...
An admission it wasn't a good performance would have been an improvement on the apparent crowd infatuation.
An admission the performance of everyone involved - himself, the players and the crowd needs to improve, would have been even better.

It's beyond belief that people would behave in a manner so obviously counter-productive.

Was the critiscism of him justfied?

I don't think anyone deserves that level of derision from their own supporters. He didn't play especially well, but nobody did. He actually came over towards the pop after scoring, cupping his ears in response to the boo-boys. I've seen it suggested he was even greeted with "can you do that every week?" but didn't hear it personally.

Just listened to the Buckle interview for the first time... Wow!! It really was.... timid? All he did (for no more than 30 secs in a three and a half minute interview), was express an opinion on how he felt the atmosphere was dead compared to recent games, and who can disagree? After the ridiculous Woods song and the booing, along with scandalous comments shouted at him and the players as they left the pitch he could've said a hell of a lot more, and I bet he was feeling it! Sorry, but I saw no offence in that interview, just a man who was seeing it as it was and quite possibly giving out a rallying call for the rest of the season... he mentions that 'we all need to pull together', that 'we need to raise the roof at home'. Let's do what the man said and support the team for this run in, let us fans be the extra man, that bit of an edge that all successful teams need...

That's the counter-productive hiding to nothing bit I was talking about. I can't see that. I think an ability to recognise his own mistakes occasionally would be seen as a positive. We recognise them, i'm sure the board do too. I don't think an admission from the man himself would alert the board to anything they were previously unaware of.

I refer you to my original post in response to your observation. Good call, Budleigh. Bugger all upsetting about that interview. And to re-iterate merse's point - he actually states it was the "first" time it's been like that. Like f*** it is.

Having driven from Tiverton straight after work, and watching a dreadful performance, whilst contemplating the return journey before bed, i couldn't raise the energy to 'buzz' i'm afraid.

To admit the performance wasn't great and will be rectified? I'd appreciate that kind of honesty personally. Those press lads would love you Fonda....dont ever apply for the job if and when Bucks gets the boot Buckle apparently gave the team a right old rocket at half time....he does his "honesty" in the confines and the privacy of the dressing room. He uses the press to breed positivity when asked about the teams or individual performances.....just like most other succesful managers do. Do you think it would be useful for morale in the squad for the players and their families to read headlines in the local rags screaming out "BUCKLE BLASTS UNITED"? or the like......the press love that kind of stuff.....it sells papers. You must remember on Champ manager, when the option comes up on the screen....Praise/Critisize team/player in the press. Those guys that write the programmes for those games know which way it normally goes for your teams progress if you choose the wrong option
