Blair Sturrock from Swindon has signed on an initial one month loan and hopefully to the end of the season.
Thoughts?

Believe Blair Sturrock to be a very good loan signing , certainly at BSP level. He brings another option up front, given Christie's fitness concerns. Also, will give Sills the option of a rest before the playoffs! Somebody else for Nicho & Carlisle to aim their crosses at, too. Yes, happy about this.

...a good and somewhat suprising signing. He has the pedigree to do well at this level.
Maybe one in, one out?

Am I going mad or did he play for Colchester as well? I was sure he was in the Colchester team in the relegation game and even scored!

You may perhaps be confusing him with Marino Keith - another former Argyle striker of around the same time (since retired) who did indeed score their 2nd goal that day!

Chris Hayes, I think you might be mixing him up with another player that we looked at some time ago called Marino Keith (I believe around the same time as Junior Mendes when Roy Mac was at the helm). He was credited with scoring against us in another of the relegation seasons - although for Swindon on that Easter Monday defeat at the County Ground.

When I saw this thread I was pretty sure that Blair Sturrock has been at Plainmoor before on trial. My programme team changes for the game at Dawlish on 12 July 2006 show he came on for Chris McPhee. If this is right it makes him an Ian Atkins triallist along with Ryan Harley who also played in that game.

I'm and bit confused by this one personally. I'm not one to have a pop at a player before I have seen them play with my own eyes, but looking at his stats they aren't massively impressive are they. Saying that though Christies stats are impressive and he ain't been that hot. In my opinion the money used on Sturrock's wages we could have got a decent winger preferably a left one!
Has anyone seen him play, what has he got to offer that our other guys can't already>

If this is right it makes him an Ian Atkins triallist along with Ryan Harley who also played in that game. Yes Atkins had two trialist decisions to make - Sturrock or McPhee and Harley or Motteram. From what I remember of that game, McPhee and Sturrock shared a shift wide on the right of midfield - to be carried out in an Atkins disciplined style. Sturrock did not look too at home in that role.

Pretty sure you're right on that one. I've a vague memory of Sturrock not playing in the postion to which he was normally accustomed. I think Harley played at Newton Abbot that week as well and, to me, flattered to deceive. I saw him later that season playing for Weston-super-Mare and thought he looked a tidy player who had reached his level......(ah well). Carl Motteram now at Solihull Moors.
