I have to agree with the point about Nico. If he hasn't got the stomach to battle it out with Hodges for a starting place then he is not worth having. England "C" caps gone to his head maybe ? Get off your high horse Nico and fight for your place.

I have a feeling that Mr B is learning that it is not the best players that win you matches but the best team. He will now need to learn to not pander to egos and stamp his authority in a firm but fair way. This is written with some trepidation as it appears, from the outside, that he is prone to personality clashes and lets that get in the way of picking a side.
As for Thursday, I go with the same back four - after some thought, stick with Poke in goal - a five-man midfield, DSane and Carry-all out wide, Greavsie Mansell and (Carlisle?) - and Green all on his own up front (our defence can't cope with the lone striker, why should York's {other than they're better than us?}?).
Do I get a vote for post of the week? If so = Swangull's.
Do I get a vote for concern of the week? If so = Merse bringing the subject of players' thingy' into a post. Rather disconcerting. Agree about Radio Dumb'un though.

Haven't been able to watch a game at all this season it is hard to comment about performences. But reading some reports on this site and a few on .net (the ones I trust to read) it looks like Buckle is finding the right team very slowly, step by step.
Hopefully he's given time to built further, the board won't be as stupid as some who yell 'champions' if we win and 'sack the s*d' if we lose.
Now is the time where the boys in our squad are seperated from the men. Nicholson a fine example of a 'boy' if these rumours are true.
Next thursday's game against York is my first game of the season, although I have to watch it in an Irish pub in Eindhoven.
My next live game at Plainmoor will be the Northwich game on sunday the 7nd of september. Hopefully Bucks is still on board by that time together with better performences and a lot more points!

Of course we are all presuming that Nicholson has handed in a request because he doesnt want to fight for his place in the team. Has anybody given any thought to the fact that he may have had a falling out with Buckle. After all he wouldnt be the first person to have done so.........

IF the rumour about Nico is true then grant him his request - on the 2nd September! I would echo that - if he HAS asked to be listed it displays a pretty poor sort of character. Does he not fancy trying to win a place on the left of midfield? Does he not relish the challenge of proving in training that he is a more effective left back than Hodges (which I personally don't think he is by the way) and if he were to go where does that leave our currently undermanned fullback department? No Mr Nicholson, YOU were one of the players who got us off to this bad start - you stay and clear up your own mess! Merse firstly we don't know If its true, but I don't see how you can say he was one of the players to get us in this mess. Has not Hodges had more starts than Nicholson? Now Raynor claims he was told he had no future at the club, but we only have his side of the story, but lets say it is true. Do we know If Nicholson has been told that, or that Hodges will be first choice over him. We do not know, but If Nicholson knows somethings we don't and that leads him to believe he will not get many games, what should he do. So early in a season, why should he want to be sat on the bench most games, players his age just want to be playing, that is what they do. I know you will go on about a player is a part of squad and yes he is, but if you believed you would not get many games, why would not want to look for a team, where you would stand a chance to get more games. Clubs show very little loyalty to players, so why should any fan expect the players to show It to any club. There is also as Scott has said, the chance there may have been a fall out, do they happen at Plainmoor?

I have highlighted the pertinent words in red to aid your understanding of what I posted. All achievements and non achievements are attained as a squad, nothing more, nothing less. That is how the club is run and that is how it will continue to be run. I'm sure any "but it wasn't me Boss" would get pretty short shrift out there on a windy morning on the racecourse. Therefore ALL of the squad have to bear the responsibility of the club's position................it's one of the most basic tenets of any team sport!

I thought the summer tournament was for Under 23's as well, but they allow four over-age players...I said over-age Merse, not over-weight!

I wonder what I need to aid your understanding of my posts Merse, as you seem never to respond to the theme of my posts. That was if he wanted to leave because he was told, he would not get many games, but he wanted to play lots of game, then he might want to find a club, where he could do that. Are you keeping up so far Merse? So even if he had played a part, in what you call mess, why would he want to stay around and help clean it up, If he was not wanted afterward. Still with me Merse? Now as I said we do not know the reasons and indeed if he has asked to leave, but if it was as described above and you have been able to keep up, then my other post should now make even more sense to you, as you seemed to struggle with it

Macedge Nice post. Just to defend D'Sane. The guy was carrying an injury during at least the end of last season. Missed most of pre season and had only had a few minutes of action so far this season. He is likely to be the best option for feeding off and reading the Sills flick, (although like you I would like to see something other than the route 1 approach). Sure he was not match sharp but he did demonstrate on more than one occasion the upper body strength that players like Benyon and Stevens both lack. For my money he will be our best option with Sills up front but he is a few games behind everyone else.

Andy I would agree with most of your post, I do think Sills and Desane once fully fit, might well be our best attacking force.
But would not like to see what Sills and Green could do together, I do not believe they have had much chance to build up any understanding between each other,
They always say that forwards need to play four or five games together to get some understanding.

I actually think it's your fault Dave - change that pic of Bucks in your message footer to one in a TUFC outfit and rid us of the one wearing an Exeter City top ;D As I can't be asked to make a new one tonight, I have gone back to the one I started with on here, so if we don't win Thursday night Andy, It really will be nothing to do with me
