I'm deleting my account now, meant to do this a few weeks back.
Don't get me wrong, posters on this site are very well informed. The site's far to hypocrital, and it stems from the forum owner himself.
I meant to do this when there was a thread opened by Dave R about davethegull. If that's not a personal attack then I don't know what is.
And I do know what personal attacks are, having dispenced many in my time.
It's just too sterile a forum for me, and Dave R .... well, read your rules again and think on. If they are your rules, then you should know better.

It's just too sterile a forum for me, and Dave R .... well, read your rules again and think on. If they are your rules, then you should know better. Reading such remarks aimed at me I wonder why I even bothered to provide what I believe is a better forum. It makes me ask myself should I give so much of my time for free, if people who do not even know me can hold such views about me. A hypocrite is one thing I'm not, I was the first one to put my hand up and say I have been as guilty as anyone on here for remarks I made when I should have known better. When all you hear is people won't post because of some of the personal attacks that have been made, you have to ask is really that the way a forum should be, is only any good if you can come on it and read people sniping and being as rude as they can to each other. I suspect this has more to do with davethegull asking you to stream illegally the gullsworld match commentary through Yahoo and the views Merse has posted about it. At the end of the day I'm only trying to make the forum a better and happier place, where we can debate without the need for personal attacks, if that is the wrong way to go and if people only want a forum that has blood and guts all over the walls from the last big fight, this forum will then just die. I will then simply delete it and look back and say at least I gave it my best shot, but I got it wrong and a forum can only be a place where values, friendships, people having respect for each other, really don't belong. Here we go again, people come - people go ~ it's life. Don't go beating yourself up again Dave, Rattz has said his piece and decided to delete......c'est la vie. There's nothing to question yourself over, no need to soul search. Rattz likes the type of forum he does and this is no longer one of them, so be it. He won't find what he's looking for on another site mind you as well he knows. "Sorry to see you leave" Rattz.................the sort of "edgy" character I enjoy to be honest, and blandness IS one of the character traits we need to try and avoid at all costs. I've never had a problem with people who hold different views than mine, only those who seem to demand that those with differing views be gagged or even removed from sites. We've all got to be big enough to take unflattering views of ourselves on the chin........................that's not inviting insults, condoning character assassination nor promoting belittlement; it's just an appeal to all and sundry to keep a sense of perspective and not take ourselves too seriously.

It is not a question of taking it to heart merse, rather a case of asking myself what really is the point. The opening post on this thread would have been deleted elsewhere, you would have been told to PM only such remarks aimed at the person who ran the forum.
I gave up the other forum because my posts were deleted, because I was so often gagged and even more so if my points won the argument. I was not proud to belong to a forum that took every opportunity to attack the very football club it claimed to support, a forum the club were looking at taking legal action against.
I hold the views that the TFF while remaining an independent forum should not be afraid to form a good relationship with the club, we are meant to be supporters after all, I believe a forum should be a place where fans can post their views without fear of being belittled or their views rubbished.
Just because that is the way it has always been on TUFC forums, does not mean it’s the way it should be, it does not mean the TFF should not look to make this forum a better and more welcoming place, where we can share our views in the proper way adults should.
It is only when people are losing their argument that they so often then look to make personal attacks on others, why they can’t just admit they were wrong, or maybe the other person made more sense and might even be right, I’ll never know.
One thing I have learned is, its near impossible for me to post on this forum as Dave R. the member I wanted to be really can’t happen in the way I thought it could, I do become a target so often just because I do own and run the forum, that I find sad and. I have decided for now I will just do what is necessary to keep the forum running.

Mate do your self a favour, rise above the small or close minded people, their not worth the grief. Who cares if the Rattz are fleeing the ship! The ship ain`t sinking so just let them go, it`s easier than you think. Don`t for one minute think you or anyone can create or run a forum that is everything to everyone because my friend that is just impossible to do, due to human nature!

Dave, you are pissing in the wind if you think you can please everyone mate. If you let people like merse and me on here it's gonna get like this sometimes. A lot of this is just bluff and bluster. Get us in a pub and it's just friendly disagreement, it only "sounds" worse when it's written.

davethegull I think that is a very very good point & is a conclusion I reached myself some while back. I believe we could make virtually the same points face to face & be able to disagree 100% with each other without taking serious offence. Unfortunately when we just read words in isolation the message can appear harder or colder than it would have if we were chatting face to face. Dave can be rightly proud of the forum & is surely aware that the positives outweigh the negatives by a pretty substantial amount, but you can't please all of the people all of the time and so inevitably we'll lose some members ocasionally & well as gaining new ones. Personally I'm going back to thinking about football matters such as the disorganised shambles our defence looks since it has become a 'Steve Woods Free Zone' and how much I like the new socks for the away kit...I'll probably buy two pairs if they turn up in the Club shop before Christmas

Thanks for your post alpinejoe, after a week at work when I did all I could, but failed to get in the work my boss would have liked, I took great heart from what I was able to achieve this week for the forum. Getting our own two page match day programme feature, was the icing on the cake.
To wake up and find someone at 2am wrote a post to attack me, felt like having a knife stuck in my back. I did talk today with someone who so often helps me and they did say that at least what I was trying to do for the good of the forum was done with all the right motives.
I have always tried to hard to please everyone, it was often the big mistake Davybeat made, but its who I am and how I work, I think I would find it too hard to change that at my age.

Dave, and everyone else.. The two pages are nearly done... Dave, I shall send you a 'proof' tomorrow and see what you think... it feels well balanced... We just need to keep good posts coming for the next one, then the one after that, and after that etc etc..!

Great Leigh I shall look forward to reading it, don't worry I'm sure you will aways be spoiled with good posts to pick from. Just one thing, do you think we should just put up the user names who's posts will appear in the programme?

To wake up and find someone at 2am wrote a post to attack me, felt like having a knife stuck in my back. It's tough when you work so hard on something and then find someone having a pop. I would imagine that is exactly how Lou felt when she put so much hard work into organising a TUST social event only to have somebody claim that it is immoral to offer a discount to TUST members.

Maybe if you were aware of a few facts, then you might see things from a different angle, I did not claim a discount was immoral, only unfair to fans who are not members of the TUST, I will say that the TUST should find better ways to try and get people to join it and there I will rest my case. I forgot to say last time, but there is no need for you to post a link to the TUST page in replies to my posts, I have a button on the welcome bar that goes to it all on its own

Aunty Dave
Forums are a place for peeps to download directly from their brains, and it is amazing what goes on in our collective conciousnesses. OK I know I can only speak for myself.
It is all too easy to rattle off an ill-considered post.
When you are winning an argument the first thing opponents do is question your motives, and the next stage is often just abuse.
This is what happened to Bateson and why he so wrongly shut down the boards on the club website.
You have provided a public service in opening them up again, but I doubt that things will be that much different in the long run.
I think you just have to be aware of your majority support and grin and bear it old girl....

Forgot to add one thing Jon, Lou had better hope non trust members do go to this event, only just over £2 will be made for the TUST by any members that do attend, it would be such a shame if say only 30 members supported her event.
That would be only about £60 made, hardly worth the players giving up their evening for in my view

Well it seems I'm Joe Barlow's uncle and now Yellows auntie I do agree yellow and my only real aim has been to provide a good forum, I do not make one penny from running this site, it is a labour of love. I know most people know I care and love the forum and I just want it to be the very best it can, to that end my work is ongoing
