.....I just watched Made Of Stone (the Shane Meadows documentary about the Stone Roses famous free gig in Warrington in 2012 and subsequent tour) on Sky Q doodah - fantakkers.......... ......so dug this beauty out - the drumming by Reni on this number is a joy to hear - he makes them drums sound bang on - and his voice in the background is grand too...... .......what a superb voice Ian Brown has - a cracking loyal fan base too........... ..sort of sad what rock n rolls done to 'em but hey - thats erm rock n roll......... ........btw I'm nearly 58 so old enough to know bloody better with this sort of thing but if I had to do a list of my top Brit-Pop/Skank Mank/similar bands - summat like this......... The Verve The Charlatans The Stone Roses James The Happy Mondays Ocean Colour Scene and closely followed by The Inspiral Carpets Mock Turtles stuff by Blur, Suede, Oasis and the like a bit further down again. |

...the almighty late Mercedes with "Roy Of The Rovers" - superb memories of The Ark Royal pub, Granby Gate, Devonport back in the day - I think 80s/90s times - go on Keith - rock it bouy - MD 20/20.....

We all have songs that we hate, so I thought about putting up a thread called what aren't you listening to? Of course that would be somewhat silly and exhausting, because you would have to then put up the names of every song that was ever written!  So to simplify things, I've put up the top two songs that I hate! I do feel that it is somewhat unfair to pick out two songs that I hate, and not include two songs that I like! For those that haven't been following, the song above is my second most hated song! When I post on this thread again, it will be my most hated song! Then when I post again on this thread it will be my second favourite song! Then when I post again on this thread, it will be my favourite song...phew! Enjoy the first one...not!  |

For those of you who haven't been following...oh you know who you are...this is my second most favoured record. It seems that when I was young, there was always the threat of some bloody thing being in the air! Ban the Bomb, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament...on and on it went! First there was The Bay of Pigs! Before there is any confusion, The Bay of Pigs I am referring to is not where Rob and Stefano go every summer in the hope of picking up an ugly fat bird! No, this Bay of Pigs is in Cuba! It's a long story, but there would have been a lot of twitchy fingers hovering over red buttons! The following year, during The Cuban Missile Crisis, there were a lot more twitchy fingers hovering! I imagine the old war time spirit was still alive, because the day it was all supposed to kick off, the teachers at Chelston Primary school were quite calm about it. Sometime in the afternoon, we were told to go into the playground and look out for a bright light in the sky! Were we to see said light, we were to put our heads between our legs, and kiss our arses goodbye...ok, I made that last bit up! I thought that Chelston was a bit of a dump anyway, so wasn't too bothered, thinking that as I lived in Edginswell, I would be quite safe...oh, the innocence of youth! Enjoy.  |
