The Clash - Julies been working for the Drug Squad live in c 1980



Managed to see them live at Birmingham Top Rank on the 5th February 1980, where Ian Dury sang on the stage.

Clash gig Birmingham Top Rank Suite 5 Feb 1980.

I just found saw site and looked up this gig as it was my first Clash Gig and I remember it as if it was yesterday.

I don't remember Spizz Energy (or Athletico Spizz 80 as they were then called) supporting them, are you sure this is correct?

It was this gig that Ian Drury came on stage and sang Janie Jones, not the following night as you state - unless he also sang then too!

From what I remember Chrissie Hynde was also on stage with them dancing with Mick Jones before the gig started and I was one of the crowd who pulled Mick off the stage. He was passed around by the crowd before being put back on stage minus his shoes, these were thrown back to him later."
