In our situation - that just is not acceptable. Apart from not enough players, the ones we do have don't appear to have the stomach for the fight. Big chance for us today. No point of bleating about the ref only booking their keeper. In our situation we just had to score that penalty. Would anybody put any money on Wroe scoring it cause I wouldn't. Bad result.

Grimsby have got 8 games to get 7 more points than us. That's the bottom line.

Darlington sacked their manager didn't they - even though they were already down. Perhaps that was an option we should have considered.

Bad luck, tried hard, can't fault the penalty miss, our focus is now on next weeks game, we tried to get Drogba but couldn't agree personal terms, their keeper played well, we did all we can Bugger, well there's always the wife and the dumpling to look forward to...........

As Jeff Sterling has just said it looks like anyone from Torquay, Cheltenham and Grimsby to join Darlington.

Wasn't it YOU Terry telling all and sundry that a game against Darlo was a three points gift? You get dafter and more ridiculous by the week! ;D Not performing? Obviously, but the margin between us and Grimsby hasn't changed and there is one less game to go for them to address that and the biggest of those is looming...............start making plans for the Conference after that if you insist Larcombe ~ oh I forgot you'll be watching North Devon League fare next season won't you. Just as believeable as your "I'm never posting on here again", and "Darlo are a pushover"

Well i'm predicting new levels of doom for miac's posting's tonight...... That's football......and sport in general, we lost to a better side...........it happens, forget it, it's gone, the squad need to work hard this week and hope to get 3 points next saturday. No real damage done with Chelt and Grim losing, of course it would have been great to nick something unexpected today but the only good news is, that its as you were in the table.
....let's just hope the management and the squad don't react in the same way as some of the fans and give up.
The defeat today doesn't mean anything in regards to whether we'll stay up or go down by the end of the season.

We are, in fact, better off than before kick-off as that's one less game to go for Grimsby to catch up...

All very worrying and our lads delivered the same birthday gift to Chelston and PaulR as they did to myself. It would have been a tough game up there though whatever our position and I see from the match stats that we had seventeen shots which was more than Morecambe had and isn't a bad number for an away game, so it does look as though there was some effort there. The only good thing to grasp at at the moment is that the games are running out and we still have effectively a seven point cushion over Grimsby. The Grimsby away game will be massive, though not as massive as Barnet when we did put in the required performance as probably nothing will be decided on the day. Didn't want to end the season relying on the games running out for the teams below us but that is the way it is going. Most seasons we probably would be in the bottom two already with our points haul (although I would happily be shot down on that by the stats brigade as I haven't looked it up). Shrewsbury home next week and they are on a bad run so let's all turn up and get behind them (Dave you are going back over to the enclosure whether you like it or not!!) Am fed up with being depressed every Saturday .... lets hope Ipplepen won!

Whooo merson knows best. Darlington SACKED their manager dumbo, it appears that this brought an upturn in their results. Yes great we lost by the same margin as Grimsby did at the league leaders. Only problem muppet is that we have to now play Rochdale whilst Grimsby will have easier opponents. Yes lets crack open a bottle - Grimsby are still six points behind us. What a fantastic total of 37 points we have. Its only going to take a couple of injuries and we will be more fecked than we are already. Anyway as we couldn't beat Morecambe I look forward to us obtaining the required points to keep as up against the likes of Notts County,Bury,Rochdale and Northampton. Sometimes I think you are even more deluded than our manager.

I just have no confidence in our ability to win games anymore. I would say that next Saturday may now represent our best chance of getting three points.
I really cannot see us getting much more than 41 or 42 points now, which is a pathetically low total if that's what we end up with. Whether it will be enough to stay up, who knows, but it's all gone badly wrong.

Shrewsbury lost 4 on the trot, that'll be 5 next week. My last game at Plainmoor was that famous last gasp 2-1 win against Northwich Victoria, they didn't look back after that. Let's hope for the same result. Again we lose very narrowly, but a loss is a loss. A result next saturday is required, nothing more and nothing less. Northampton away on the monday is very difficult.

Darlington sacked Saunton and they have won a single game. I think that perhaps Shrewsbury might be about to sack theirs as well!!!
Nothing really much to say about the result today, other than it was more or less expected. Nice to be able to rely on our two rivals failing today as well. Good win for Darlo, maybe they'll do us a favour over the remainder of games against our rivals (although I suspect the "dead cat bounce" factor helped today!). God knows it doesnt seem that we are doing any favours for ourselves at the moment.
