Got to feel sorry for Barnsley, 4 - 1 up against Plymouth (at Plymouth) and the game is abandoned. If I'd have known they would be 4-1 down at half-time, I'd have sent Aussie down with his ladyfork!

At least the 7p cheating Scum lost. In the Scum Cup Final. Can't bring myself to be pleased at a Franchise win, even if it is over the debt welchers.

I don't understand why the night before a FA Cup game some git things its perfectly alright to arrange a rugby game on the same pitch. What chance does the pitch have time to recover and I wonder if the rugby match hadn't been arranged whether the ground staff would have managed to get the match on. Look at Carlisle last week - ruddy rugby << shakes fist in air>>.

I've got to say that after our recent run of draws P-P is a fair result...! And we're in the hat for the third round..

Only real problem with that is that The Sharks own the ground an allow Stockport to share it, must agree that it is a stupid idea to allocate such a fixture the night before the worlds most watched cup but what would a rugby club know or even care about the most famous cup in football league history?

It was 12.15 before news of the postponment came through to us, and we were only 30 miles from Stockport. Pretty disgusted that it was announced so late (11.00am I believe), although phone messages didn't get to us 'til later. However being resilient Devonians we decided to make a day of it & got out the fixture list. Thought about Macc v. Grimsby, decided we didn't want to be the only 5 Grimsby supporters there, so went for Port Vale v. Huddersfield. Chose to be Hudd. supporters seeing we drew there on Tues. Joined up with them in a pub and after a few quizical looks at our Torquay shirts etc, were warmly accepted. When we got to the ground had a few jokes about being locked in since Tues! Don't see how Hudd are so high up the table as was a pretty inept performance from both teams. Don't think I'll bother to go to Stockport on 8th. Hudd fans said Stockport pitch was a total disgrace and wasn't fit for the league as basically turf on top of sand. Surely more account should be made of travelling fans and in view of the situation the evening before with the rugby, our game should have been called off much earlier. But there, fans always seem to come last.

I think was is so great is the fact that while our fans were bitterly disappointed the game was called off, even more so when you consider the time spent travelling and the expense involved, most went and found a game to watch and on the whole had an enjoyable day.
That a great credit to the sort of people who support Torquay United and while a few moans are perfectly understandable and a few questions being asked if the game should have been called off much earlier, they all took it on the chin and survived still as fans to get ready to do it all again.

I see that the tie has been (not unexpectantly) rescheduled for 8th December 2009. Hopefully, the weather will allow it to proceed this time, particularly as in the event of a replay, there are only two mid week slots before Christmas and the 22nd would not be ideal with a small squad and the traditional busy festive programme.
