I think we all know that all game in league two are not going to be easy ones, each game we will need to be at our best, if we are to get the results we will need to get a good finishing position in the league this season.
I said in my post before the Burton game that it was a game we could win, in that game we showed we could bounce back after a poor performance in our previous game.
That is what we will need to do again this Saturday against Bradford and once again I do feel we can win this game as long as we fight and work hard and play as the team that we can when we are at our best.
It was clear we missed both Mansell and Carlisle in the first half against Barnet, so I'm sure they will both be fully fit and will start this game. I do think Muzzy should start on the other wing, he has that bit more to give than Danny Stevens I feel.
As much as I hate to drop Tim Sills from my team selection, I would still stick with Rendall and Benyon up front. If it was clear early in the game it was not working, then I would be getting Tim on at the first opportunity.
It will be listening to the radio for me, but as always I do hope if you are going to the game, you will post your views on the thread, so we can get a better idea how the game went.

Rendell and Benyon drew a blank and it sounds as if Sills was missed. If we want crosses in to the box, we want Sills on the end of them. I would like to see Sills and Benyon, but am expecting it to be Sills and Rendell- Rendell playing the David Graham role.(not the booze and fags one) Carlisle and Mansell back in with Charnock and Robertson in the centre.
I would like to see Carayol given another chance on the left, swapping wings with Carlisle between phases.
I'm not confident on this one and would be delighted with a draw. Their defence has leaked a few.
Feed the Sills.

I'm proberly wrong Rob, but I can't remember to many Sills type balls being played into the box against Barnet,until he came on.
Rendall and Benyon did the job at Burton and that is why I think I would stick with them again, as I said Tim can always come on if its not working.

The longer we can keep the back door shut the better as that pressure will just build. With wingers of the standard of Carlisle and the pace of muzzy we could easily catch them on the break.
Nice to see that the Carlisle bashing of last year from certain members of our crowd does not seem to have continued into this season. Maybe it was all due to that cross ?

The problem so far this season, admittedly there have only been 4 games, is the consistency of some of the players. Stevens and Carayol have had good spells but equally they have been pretty dreadful at times. Its difficult to know which one to go with. Carlisle on the other hand has been a model of consistency which his name should be amongst the first, if not the first, on the teamsheet along with Mansell. |

The abuse he got last year (mostly at home) was an absolute disgrace. One misplaced pass and it was "eff off back to Exeter, Carlisle". It was interesting to see that away from home he was excellent and scored or set up many vital goals. I really can't understand the mentality of some of our fans sometimes. Buckle still gets the same treatment and he, like Carlisle and to a lesser exten Martin Rice, is only a poor performance away from abuse usually saved for the most hated member of your local rivals. It's interesting to see that Lee Phillips and Chris Todd who've both had lean times in a Torquay shirt never got the same level of abuse directed at them even though they came to us from Exeter. Is it because we actually bought them for money and they're not seen as City "hand me downs"? I've watched many games at many different clubs over the last few years and I can never recall such a level of abuse directed by home supporters to their own players. On a different Footballing note I see that Cardiff City are set to sign the excellent Solomon Taiwo from Dagenham and Redbridge for £250,000. He was the bloke who shut down our midfield. |

Not sure what to make of this one. Purely based on average gates and size of the club we should get a decent stuffing at Valley Parade.
However, they've been underachieving for quite some time and it's, by far, not the finished article at City.
As long as our players don't let themselves get intimidated by their crowd and the huge stadium we should be able to get a decent result. They performed at Wembley when it mattered so I reckon that should not be the problem!

If we play to our best then with their leaky defence we could outscore them, just don't give them an early start like they had at Cheltenham. Having said that i'm predicting a 2-2 result...
This has been pencilled in as my first game of the season since the fixture list was announced. As an exile am hoping to attend a few away games this season, but unfortunately my new found travel companion (Wembley trip was good day, eh Longeaton) will be working so it would be another solo trip.
It seems that Bradford are another club who have dreams being back up where they think they belong, and with it they demand we pay for their big stadium. Am I out of touch a little or is £20 a match ticket a bit steep for division 2 football? Certainly won't be giving them anymore hard-earned cash for programmes, burgers, etc.
Here's to a good trip for all and a journey back with smiles and happy memories.

Still feel that a result is possible for us and while I think we could win by the odd goal, playing in front of such a large crowd etc, I'll take draw if it comes our way. |

 The squad had a near ten hour nightmare on the Bank Holiday jammed motorway system yesterday en route to the overnight hotel........................it's not easy coping with such deprivations and that should never be forgotten in the final analysis.

One of the pre-season favourites and bigger clubs in the division but off to a poor start - sounds like us last year In front of a large crowd this will be a toughie no doubt and we needed that 10 hour journey like a hole in the head.  With no back up, hopefully Bevan can last the match. If their defence is a bit leaky I would go for a Benyon start as he will give them something more to think about. That's assuming Thompson doesn't come back to reprise his "role in the hole." ;D Hopefully our defence will start as it finished against Barnet. Both Danny and Muzzy can blow hot and cold but on balance would like to see Muzzy start. |
