I expect we will see much the same line up for the first half, as we have the last two home friendly games we have had. Still it should be a game where we will see some good football played by both sides.
With all the rain around and lots more forecast, lets hope the pitch stands up to the job. Lets also hope the hum has been fixed for our Pill, it was a bit annoying I must admit.
If we are to play the same way keeping the ball on the floor mostly, I do feel if we play with Sills up front on his own, then we do need to get the ball wide and get our wingers to put some good high balls into the box.
Mussy on the left hand side just seems to want to keep cutting inside himself, out on the right at the Buckland game, he did do that a few times, but put in some high balls as well.
Maybe good to have Sills start with Joyce in the first half, he will need to play with him as a strike partner, if they are to get an understanding together.

That hopefully should give us a chance to see Hatch get a full game. I really would like to see us sign him permanently, even if it is as a back up to Mansell. Robertson was tried as cover at right back for a few games last season and it's not his position. I noticed that Halpin didn't play for the youth team last night so hopefully another chance to get to see him play. Yes it should be a good game and it wont be easy. I think this will be our toughest test during the PSF's. A few of the guys i work with up here (Yeovil) went to see Derby beat Yeovil 2-0 last night and they were all gushing about Derby.

Don't think I'll trust my work colleagues any more - earlier today the one who told me Blair Sturrock hadn't been in contact with Torquay, said he had told him he had no chance of being fit for a while and was off playing golf....now he's in the squad for the pre-season friendly with Derby (Sturrock that is, not my colleague!!)

Hope the lino checks his footwear properly then...................and if he turns up wearing only one glove there's only one reason ~ he's back from Michael Jackson's funeral I thought he'd been offered a "prove your fitness" deal for pre-season.

Great news, i was quite impressed with what i saw from Sturrock, particularly in the away games. His control of the ball was exquisite and if he were to stay fit he would be a good addition to the squad.

Having watched Benyon and Joyce play together against Plymouth, I would say he is exactly the type of player we need to obtain and retain possession in the final third of the field.

Sturrock is a class act and a player who is a joy to watch, Sturrock keeping fit will be the real worry for me. The way we have been playing will suit his game down to the ground.
I hope we do sign him as he has goals in him for sure and will bring a touch of class to our team.

He is solid and experienced and a very good addition if he joins but is not the targetman or goal getter that we need.

I must confess I'm not to sure of his goal scoring record, I based my view on the games I saw him play in for us. He put away the goal at the Kettering game very well and that is why I feel he would score many goals for us.
We need to sign him first anyway, but if we did and he stayed fit, I can see him close to the top as leading goal scorer.

That's not cut and dried by a long chalk...................I see we've got Polish Under 20 international Mark Sarosta starting tonight. He's a Sheffield born grandson of a Pole ~ 22 years old who was developed by Sheffield United and must therefore be a contemporay of Chris Robertson. He's been out on loan at Tamworth, Brentford (where he played 21 First Team games) Bradford City ( 15) and last season, Aldershot who cut short his loan after just three matches so he finished the season at Polish First Division club Lechia Gdansk for six months then completed it at Bramall Lane before being released in June.

Blair Sturrock and Scott Bevan back to face the Rams
FORMER GULLS loan striker Blair Sturrock is poised to play for Torquay United in tonight's Plainmoor friendly with Championship side Derby County (7.45pm). And United's big goalkeeper Scott Bevan is also hoping to make his first appearance of the pre-season campaign after missing out so far with an achilles tendon injury. Sturrock, the former Dundee United, Plymouth, Kidderminster, Rochdale and Swindon forward, is working out with United on a comeback from a knee ligament injury sustained during last season's Blue Square Premier Play-Off Semi-Final Second Leg at Histon. The 27-year-old Scot, a free agent after being released by Swindon in May, scored twice in seven appearances on loan near the end of last season. He appeared in United's closed-doors training game at Bovey Tracey on Tuesday evening. Manager Paul Buckle said: "Blair has been to Lilleshall (FA Rehabilitation Centre) and worked hard through the summer. "We know all about him, so I wouldn't call this a trial. "Now he needs to get his match-fitness back, so we're having another look at him, and he's looking at us." Bevan, who played from last September right through until the end of April, has been sidelined since his leg injury caught up with him during a 1-1 draw at Barrow in the penultimate league match of last season. "You want all your players fit at this time, but it will be good to see Scott back," said Buckle. It's not certain whether skipper Chris Hargreaves, who has been avoiding 'contact' stuff so far after a nose operation, will play. But definitely out is right-back Lee Mansell because of a bout of illness which will keep him at home for a couple of days. On paper tonight's game should be tougher than last Saturday's 4-1 loss to League One Bristol Rovers. Buckle said: "Whenever we made a mistake against Rovers, they punished us. "But I was happy with most aspects of our game at the weekend. "Against higher opposition like this, we have to be mistake-free, which isn't easy at this stage." Derby, who were a Premiership club only 15 months ago, are hoping to bounce back under 'new' manager Nigel Clough. The Rams opened their Westcountry tour with a 2-0 win at Yeovil Town on Tuesday night, when substitute Steven Davies scored both goals. Injuries have kept key men like Rob Hulse, Kris Commons and Dean Leacock back in Derby. But their squad still includes men like former Welsh international Robbie Savage, highly-rated young striker Luke Varney, tipped-for-the-top midfielder Giles Barnes, ex-Plymouth full-back Paul Connolly, on-trial Arsenal starlet Mark Randall and summer signing Shaun Barker. Plainmoor fans may remember young Barker doing his best in a losing cause last season, when United upset his Blackpool team in the FA Cup. Barker has now moved to Pride Park, along with ex-Exeter City utility player Dean Moxey and two members of Clough's old squad at Burton Albion, goalkeeper Saul Deeney and central defender Jake Buxton.

It's Ben Starosta, Mark is his middle name! He was released by Darlington last week after failing to impress Colin Todd in a trial.

I will put up my views on the game a bit later on tonight, I need to sort of the pictures of Tim presenting his boots to Lewis first and get them up.
