I was going to Brizzle this morning for a meeting but have decided not to go having taken the advice of the Agency lady, pictures of those poor buggers on Telegraph Hill, TV, radio etc etc. Stay put Dave.

If they do they will not get past Bristol, Tiegnmouth and Haldon are at a stand still according to the radio and Exeter( cough-hack-splutter ) is properly jammed up. The main roads are moving just but alot of roads are closed!

As I'm sure you all know, the game is off now so the lads won't be travelling. It would appear that the Surrey / Sussex border is the only part of the country with no snow. I express this anger because I still get paid if I can't get to work because of adverse weather conditions. It amazes me that we can have nothing but drizzle yet 20 minutes up the road has had four or five inches of the white stuff.

You're not the only one!
Nothing at all in Torquay or Newton this morning, but shed loads in Paignton and Totnes!

I have given up any hope of getting to North Devon today, you still can't get past Exeter, so I have come home, what a strange trip it was as I left Newton Abbot it was windy but there was no snow.
Drive to the ring road and soon I was in heavy snow and up at the top and all the way to Kings Ash Road, only one lane can be used. People make me mad at times, that nice man Barry, who is a local ref and was until recently the fixtures sec for the SDL, was standing on the second to last roundabout. Barry works for the local council on the highways deportment.
He asked each driver to cross the roundabout and only use the outside lane, this was for two reasons, one Maldon Road has been closed and two the gritter was soon coming as it was doing the other side of the road and he would need to get through.
The locals will know that last year the lanes were changed around,on the last piece of the dual carriage way the left lane is now only a turn left into Maldon Road. What do they do? yes still use the left hand lane and it was gridlock when I tried to get home. All the cars in the left lane have to push their way in on the last roundabout to get to Kings Ash Hill.
I drive down Kings Ash and there is very little snow, yet the ring road is really bad and the snow was getting deeper up there. Best advise is to stay home, but if you need to get to Newton Abbot, do not use the ring road and go the seafront way.

I got to Newton Abbot in about 5 minutes this afternoon, just after 2pm but I did leave from Torquay! Got back just as quick.

What's the matter boys and girls!?
Last snow I remember back in the home county was 1976. I get it all the time up here since I moved. No problems - Dudley Council grit anything that moves! Can't say that for the other councils round here though...

You lot haven't got a clue. It's snowed every day this week and now the council has run out of grit. I've driven to work every day which includes a 1:5 hill (mountain to anyone outside Wales)
it's a pain in the arse but we just get on with it. I am now used to it having lived here since 1990. Too many people on the roads who haven't got a clue how to control their vehicles.

I do hate those who get snow most years thinking they are some how special and cleverer drivers because they get to drive in snow often.I will agree there are some drivers who can't drive in snow and mainly because they don't have the experience to do. I drive more miles in a year than most will drive in ten years and have driven in plenty of snow, but when roads have not been gritted and have ice with snow on top and on roads that have steep slopes, I don't care how good you think you are, in any normal drive car, you will struggle to get up any hills. The snow last night came down so fast and so heavy on the worst hill around here and even you welsh mountain drivers would not have got up Telegraph Hill last night. I went out early on the roads today, no matter how good I can drive, I can only drive on roads that are open, roads that been closed by the police are as you would agree undrivable

I've driven every day this week with snow on top of ice. i'm no expert but, as Merse would say, you country numpties are always going to struggle. telegraph hill is as it says, a HILL. we have mountains and still get up them even without a 4x4

What is it with people who moved away from Devon, they all somehow start to falsely believe they are now superior to those who have stayed and even think they can start using words like country numpties.
So the 200 cars stuck on Telegraph hill were all driven by country numpties and you would have just driven past them all and got up the hill. Dear me I'm starting to feel sorry for those who have moved away, they really need to come back down to earth and learn that they really are just who they were while they lived here and not what they foolish now think they are.

I was only winding you up and it obviously worked. I'm not superior, nor do i believe that i'm superior to anyone on this planet but I do get a little more practise than most on the snow. i guess the guy who drove the bus in Lapland a few years ago at 60mph had alot of practise, thank goodness
