Can't be bothered with a good analysis like Merse did so have only one word .... inept!
Rooney can't even control a football and he is our only star, and apparently according to Trevor Brooking we can forget the next three World Cups as he won't have had time to bring his 11 year olds through by then .... so why the hell are we talking about a nearly bankrupt country spending billions to host the competition in 2018?
I wish I liked cricket ... we won!
Some great photos again today on the site which at least takes my mind off football. First thought for that little village was Clearbrook but then I realised Barton was going in the other direction. The ridge behind looks like the one where you go from Tavistock to Sourton, but although I am sure I will have been there can't pick the village out!!

Surely one of the reasons for lack of international class players coming from our Premier League is in some part down to the high percentage of foreign players in the teams. It's the sole reason Paul~ clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool have contributed nothing to the England cause since the emergence of Terry, Gerrard and (wait for it) Carragher...................eight years and a big nothing from these two major clubs, yet two decades ago they were a byword for England production. It's one thing to have impressive academies and then another to produce the players but deny them first team football because you're bringing in endless foreign players. The players who would have at one time then got exposure at the highest level there is in club football were then genuine contenders for England caps, but now of course so many are denied this chance. Then there are clubs like Wigan and Portsmouth who are a complete waste of space in the Premiership with tat sides full of cheap African and Central American imports. The Premiership is now only a two horse race anyway and I've yet to be convinced it will be any other next season. Look at Matthew Upson as a prime example of youth denial ~ Arsenal paid two million pounds for him at 18 years of age when they brought him in from Luton who had developed him.................so who had they been bringing along in their own acadamy who then got denied his first team opportunity and how many games did Upson actually get in the Gunners first team anyway? After just 35 games and a whole load of injuries Upson was on his bike to Birmingham City. Was that outlay justified? I very much doubt it and boy did he look an arse today against quality top class opposition.

;D ;D ;D As for the Dutch, well they don't like the Germans at all. But unlike them we weren't occupied for 5 years. That is so true Chris and maybe if we had been occupied by the Germans for 5 years we may feel like the Dutch do. I took these pictures in Holland they were build as defensives from the invading Germans, please don't ask where in Holland they were, I only went there ;D Maybe if Rolf sees this post he can post where it is.

No, nobody knows. I think most German players and supporters would've reached for the Luger at half time if they had gone in at 2-2. I just hope that we don't use this as an excuse to mask an awful performance that shows why we are and will continue just to make up the numbers at international level. It's worrying to see just how far we've slipped behind. The thing is that I don't think we'll ever catch up. At least we now have a tactically astute manager rather than that daft Swede! I'm still far too depressed to conjure up much of a response Mr Scifo. I did gain a lot of hope when he brought on SWP with five minutes to go;)

I thought it was some kid they picked up outside the stadium and thought they'd make his day Who would believe this player is now 28 years old? Still unfulfilled potential, still plays like he has no conception of what is expected of a player of his years in the game.

Well done to Germany for identifying our weaknesses and then exploiting them to maximum effect. They were clearly aware of a lack of pace in Mssrs Barry, Terry and Upson and the ineptitude of Johnson and took advantage. I posted my assessment of England's chances on the World Cup thread back in March: lets get the ball rolling, how will England fare and who will be the World Champions 2010? No proven goalkeeper, one scandal-ridden, slow centre back, another hair-brained centre-back, no fit left back, no proven right-back, an out-of-form Lampard/Gerrard, no proven left or right winger...........just one (albeit very in form) striker of exceptional quality, who has no strike partner. Whilst the hair-brained centre-back was injured pre-tournament, the replacements have been even worse. And our "very in form striker" unfortunately suffered an injury and never recovered. Hopefully the patriots can now reel in their flags and we can settle down to watch the likes of Argentina, Spain, Brazil and the Dutch show us how football at this level is meant to be played.

Well, well. I thinks everything's already been said about that shambolic performance. Make no mistake, this will go all over the world as the total capitulation of English football. Everybody's talking about the (4) big players in the team but they never showed up. The rest of the squad is very average, unfortunately. The pundits at the BBC all agreed that it was shambolic. Here in Holland our pundits are still on the ground laughing about that overall display.
The Premier League and it's big spending clubs are the main reason for this failure. Far too many foreign players in the League and thus too many English players who never get the opportunity to make it big time in the PL.
However, had that goal been given to make it 2-2 it could have become a completely different ball game. The 2nd half suited the Germans bloody well.

Only "big" in their own backyards Ospel, take them into the outside world and they are slow of thought, pace and imagination. Lured forward and then hit on the counter like some pathetic "Rope A Dope"........................anyway look on the bright side for John Terry ~ Ashley Cole's missus is going spare and could probably do with a good seeing to. These "stars" deserve only the public's derision wherever they turn out for their clubs next season.

You have to wonder how much of an impact those 3 seasons he had at Chelsea had on his development as a player. I don't think it helped him to have a period of relative inactivity when he was 23-26 years of age. You have to worry for this new group of Trevor Brooking's 11 year olds. They might turn out to be very good, but will they ever get the chance to shine at super rich clubs who just have a policy of buying what they want? Does anybody think that Michael Mancienne is ever going to break into the Chelsea first team and get the top notch experience he needs? Having said that I still can't believe that Gerard Pique is seen as a top class centre half after being schooled at Old Trafford in a mixture of Coca Cola Cup and reserve team matches.

When players earn as much a SWP was earning before he joined Chelsea to play in the reserves, but then puts financial greed to effectively pay a lot more tax anyway before his football career; you know that the guy's mentality is seriously flawed and therefore he should have been cast aside there and then and no more time wasted on him from an England perspective. When the likes of John Terry and Ashley Cole carry on as they do, you know they are unprofessional and they should have suffered the same fate; and what are these players anyway in the greater scheme if things? Premiership level at best which is cetainly not World Class................not by a million miles they're not, so we should not be making concessions to them. Anyway, true World class stars don't behave like them in the first place. Brazil's manager Dunga didn't mess around with Ronaldo (the real one) did he? Out on his arse went the fat slob and bloody good riddance I say. The efforts being made to bring in "quotas" is the method by which the FA hope to bring clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal into line, but they are already "cheating" their way round the system by cultivating even younger non English players in their academies. Teenagers being moved into the UK with their parents in tow costing English lads their academy places that they have spent five or six years working for is only going to produce players like Fabricas for Spain and Stoch ~ the young guy who played for Slovakia. Thanks for your efforts for English football Arsenal and Chelsea ~ nice one!
