Have a guess which is the biggest Island on the planet and also the smallest continent. Bit of debate on that one, Aus. The world's largest island is said to be Greenland. The world's smallest continent is said to be Oceania (which includes a place called Australia apparently) Greenland! Said to be, by who? Do you think Greenland is a larger land mass than Australia? And as far as Oceana goes, well the north American continent is called just that and it has Canada and Alaska attached to it so it makes sense that the Australian continent is called just that for similar reasons, it`s what we were taught at skool!

Not a matter I have ever given any thought to Aussie but it would be worth you doing a Google search on the subject. I just typed in 'Greenland Australia largest island' and came up with loads of interesting reading and contradictory views. Is there any skiing in Australia? I know New Zealand and Japan in that part of the World have good well established ski areas but I've never heard of any in Australia (I do appreciate Australia is some way from Japan but to a Devonian it's the same part of the World!! )

Skiing is possible on Australia's highest peaks, but I imagine it'd be a bit like skiing in Scotland or viewing the Northern Lights in the far North of Scotland...it can be done, but unless one lives in those places it's far better to hop on a plane and experience it elsewhere where conditions are likely to be more reliable and conducive. That's how it is for us in Europe anyway. I guess flying to New Zealand from Australia for some proper skiing probably involves a bit more time, expense and hassle. Why anyone would want to faff around with salopettes and ski boots when there are thousands of miles of stunning sun-kissed coastline for all but the coldest 'winter' days is anyone's guess though

I wasn't trying to get anyone to bite, although I was pulling your leg with the island/continent thing Anyone who denies that it'd be anything other than brilliant to ski in a country as famous for its hot weather as Australia is lying. But that doesn't mean its resorts compete with New Zealand or the Alps. I never said it was no better than Scotland either...I said there are more reliable and conducive places than either Scotland or Australia do it, which there are. Scotland may have a bad reputation for its skiing, but whilst it lacks consistently good conditions, it also lacks the hordes of middle-class English types with their disgusting children/grandchildren, prickly Frenchmen and £10 glasses of beer you will find in the Alps at this time of year

Quite unusually it is looking like we are due a bucket load of snow over the next few days with amber weather warning issued for most of the south west! Will our match on Saturday be postponed?
Safe journeys to everyone and be prepared!
