And hanging after what I saw had happened in your neck of the woods on Friday Wolfie. Our world is a totally different place from the one I remember growing up in the sixties and seventies when footballers were considered to be of a similar class and on similar earnings as the ordinary man on the street. The obscene amounts of money players and staff at the very top of the game have now ruined the sport I grew to love for its passion and honest endeavour and commitment. With the top players receiving well in excess of 100k a week its inevitable that competitions such as the so called Champions League will be even further drawn out with more and more games to bring in extra revenue from supporters advertisers and TV companies alike. It has become elitist for those clubs with a bottomless pit of funds to finance their next big signing. It is out of control and I honestly have ended up willing the Chelskis and the Man City's to fail miserably. I hate them for what they represent and has nothing to do with sport in my eyes. I hope the whole lot falls like a house of cards and maybe one day and we can all get back to the honest days when players played the game because they loved it and for the right reasons. Murdoch and BSB have played a significant part in how our game has developed and for the worse in my opinion. Fear and failure are now unacceptable with managers thrown to the sharks on a the whim of a few poor results. Abramovich's dirty and corrupt Russian money where he buys his play thing and thinks nothing of splashing out 50 million on a second rate Spanish striker who would struggle to be selected in a Paul Buckle side while many of his former communist countrymen and women live in abject poverty! How can we respect the likes of Wayne Rooney for all his talent when he abuses the public in the way he has done. Get a life , get a job on £300 a week like many of us have to. When I was in my early teens and Robin Stubbs was my hero I saw him handing out deck chairs on Torquay seafront to subsidise his income. Would the very eloquent Mr Rooney do that maybe and at the end of the day ask for his f**king deck chair back. He doesn't know what hes missing does he.

Did anybody else watch that disgrace tonight in Madrid? Some brilliantly talented players on show in particular the outstanding Messi who is better than Pele and Ronaldo combined, but what a disgraceful display of so called football. It is about time that the football authorities got some guts, banned both teams for what happened tonight, and announced that the winners of the Man Utd v Schalke 04 game will be the winners of the cup. Should it happen? Yes. Will it happen? No. As Abba used to sing 'Money Money Money'. Not sure of the way forward really. Perhaps a start would be the Football League breaking away and refusing relegated teams entry to the Championship. If they want to come back they start at the bottom of the Football League. Revolutionary? No. Newton Abbot Spurs left the South Western League but were refused entry to the South Devon League Premier so had to start in Division 2 where their reserves were playing. Brixham United left the Western League and had to start at the bottom of the SDL divisions. It is so nice supporting a proper football club but my fear is that under Paul Buckle we will go all the way and have to put up with opponents like I have seen on the tv tonight! Let's hope not, but of course that is the direction we are heading!

I saw the matching whilst supping some fine Belgian ale.
Like you said nothing will be done by FIFA as money talks (please don't mention Abba-whats next Take That!!).
Heavy heavy fines and banned from the Champions League for next season for starters.

I saw a little of it in Ascot United's clubhouse last night while watching their Uhlsport Hellenic Supplementary Challenge Cup semi final clash with Purton last night. No fights at half time, no diving, no feigning of injury and no managers send to the stands. 5 quid to get in, a good bacon roll and a cup of tea in a mug. I wonder what would've happened if the Real V Barca game had the excellent spanish ref who refereed the Schalke 04 V Man United game.

must admit, sat watching this game with embarassment, europes so called elite players acting like spoilt children, infact even kids wouldnt carry on like that. They did nothing to enhance the already soiled image of the game, greedy out of touch players,in a game that is now blemished beyond repair in the higher echolons.Messi scored a cracking goal, but other than that, another cringeworthy night for football and its image.I hope united stuff there likely opponents barcelona, but not bothered about even watching it frankly.
