FL2: Torquay United v Aldershot 28th Sept 2010

This is the day before my birthday so hopefully I`ll get 3 points as a present from the Gulls. Eunan O`Kane hopefully will get another startig call-up for this game, a great tough, can ly off the ball to anyone and can flick te ball past any defender.

I always feel it’s good to have a game to play so soon after the team played poorly rather than having to wait a whole week to put things right and try to get back to winning ways.

I’m sure Paul Buckle and the players can’t wait for this game to start and we the fans are going to see a much better performance from the players than we did on Saturday. It does look like Mark Ellis might not be fit again to play in this game and I would be more than happy to see Senda start again for us at right back.

I did say in my match report that I was surprised to see him in the starting eleven but that was only because Bucks had said he still needed a few more games. Reports I got from our reserve game was Senda played well and I’m sure Bucks saw enough to feel Senda was as good as ready as if he didn’t he simply would not have started him.

I agree with Bucks comments on Senda that he played well before his mistake and well enough after it, he showed he is a good passer of the ball and played some great balls higher up the pitch to Zebs and his mistake happened because Mansell did not read the pass and such things happen when players don’t know each others game when they first play together.

Senda is really hoping Bucks will start with him again and it’s that sort of attitude that impresses managers and fans as he is not looking to hide and wants to get the chance to show what he is really made off and for that reason alone I would start him and lets be honest he looked very fit didn’t he?

If we only start with Elliot up front Scott is going to have to play short balls to our back line as its no good just kicking the ball long as the ball will be just coming straight back like it did on Saturday.

Grits looked the perfect target man in our pre season friendlies and Benyon was feeding off him well and I’m sure Grits is still more than capable of doing a job for us and I think it’s worth starting him up front with Elliot.

I can’t see Bucks dropping Nicky Wroe and if he does go with two up front then I can see O’Kane on the bench and that’s not a bad thing has he has always done a great job coming off the bench for us.

Most games I have watched against Aldershot have ended up in boring nil nil draws, so here’s hoping this game is going to be at least a six goal thriller with us scoring five on them.

I would respectfully beg to differ Dave, in that Senda seemed to play a number of hopeful long-balls towards the end, which didn't go anywhere near the intended recipients. That said, I agree that you could not fault his apparent fitness, and although rather lightweight in stature, he looks as though he may well be a useful addition.

I am probably guilty of expecting too much from him. A Millwall-supporting friend told me we were in for a treat, so saturday's showing was a little underwhelming.

The jury's still out!

I see ex gulls trialist Bas Savage has just put Dagenham and Redbridge 1-0 up and that Kaid Mohammed has just put Bath City 1-0 up.

No show-Wroe but no blow.

Think Bevan is going to be vital in this game by the sounds - bit iffy in defence.

Not really. Just trying to humour myself as I watch all the other scores come in and I come to the realisation that my dead cert 50p accumulator on paddypower is already doomed. Peterborough were my dead dead cert and they're 3-1 down at home to Notts County. At least Exeter are losing.
