like all of you on here i am so proud being a gulls fan,but last night felt so let down by our beloved team,on the plus side i know we will put a performance for 90 minutes at weekend,the players know this,its easy to blame bucks,but surely our players should be aware of the situation and FIGHT to end of a game GULL 4 EVA.....simon

I didn't think so, Oastler lost his discipline and went through their player from where I was watching. I couldn't see the equaliser very well, but it was very kind of what remained of our midfield and attackers to invite him completely unaided. The ref was terrible, so stop-start and Zeb's booking was ridiculous - although Robinson's yellow was totally deserved - he would have seen Zebs get booked for something far less obvious. Other than the goal I wasn't really impressed with his performance last night.
I also wonder when O'Kane will come back to show the form leading-up to the Crawley game. He is a young player, has shown great ability but has been totally off-colour in recent weeks. I know he has had a foot injury so hopefully that will sort itself out.
I didn't get to enthuse so much about Stanley's performance when I got in, but I thought that he was excellent - watch how he defends when the opposition player dribbles with the ball- he stands-up and forces them out wide - while making it really hard for them to release the ball - it is like watching two crabs going at it on an Attenborough documentary! I think he is an excellent acquisition - someone on the Morecambe website said on his departure "there is no finer sight in the League 2 than Craig Stanley with a point to prove". I would be delighted if we could keep him.
Rob - I didn't look over to the players as they walked over to thank the fans really so I didn't notice Bucks' reaction to Potter - was it really obvious that he was unhappy?
I was surprised to read Bucks saying that he wants to get a couple of players in on loan - I've no idea as to what positions he is looking at. There are options for Bucks - although perhaps if there are to be any departures then it would make sense.

PB certainly didnt look at all happy with potter post-match,but it wasnt just potter at fault,the basics and simple but effective things that win matches evaporated last night,their goalie was allowed to run the ball out from his own area to almost the half way unhindered on several occasions in the second half,nobody wanted to close him down,pressurise him into making a mistake,it was all very school boy game stuff,but we didnt do it.It isnt the first time and i am pretty sure it wont be the last,accy will murder us if we do that up at their place

I'm not suggesting he will 'have it in for him' or anything silly like that. But he clearly felt the need to make that point today and I would be surprised if that didn't get a bit of a dressing room airing.
Agree too that Oastler, who I really rate in that 'in front of back 4' role, had a below par moment in going through their player from behind. From the 'Woodsie unnecessary foul' school that one.
Hopefully they'll be kicking themselves enough to keep Fighting the good fight on Saturday.

Bevan is big but stays rooted to the goal line. cross breed and you have a solution  |

Stuart - I agree he is more mobile and looks more likely to come off his line. He did at Barnet and in the first half at Cheltenham from what I have seen. The distribution was poor as he seemed to decide he would punt it down the middle as hard as he could. No other reason or fault to be apportioned. He'll have better matches, put it that way. He wasn't alone in that respect.

Decide to have my say now !!! Threw it away last nite, Cheltenham were poor and we were slightly better.  Note the comments on Potter who does come off his line more than Bevan, so there's the dilemma !!! Weak pat rather than a punch lead to their first goal, bloke 12 yds out with no one charging at him !! then the usual lets set back and defend DEEP !!! FFS why was their keeper able to dribble the ball almost to half way then launch the ball into our box ... it ain't rocket science surely, CLOSE HIM DOWN !!! Pathetic really !!! Every one was screaming this out but nothing was done about it !!! I despair with PB's tactics at times and why doesn't he have a go at the players for once or say they got it wrong  Heard Micky Adams on the journey home having a real go at his players !!! Too friggin arrogant I reckon !!! So we may get some additions, no doubt guys who can defend DEEP !!!! Growl growl growl !!! |

Just saw the highlights.
Well for their second goal, their goalkeeper was just a few yard outside his box when he kicked the ball. Not really almost to the halfwayline... It would have made no difference if he had hit it from inside the box.
Our defense wasn't at their best to say it gently. For their first goal, Potter should be able to jump a bit higher then Town's forward to box the ball away.
Robinson's goal was pure quality, great control and a fantastic shot.
Stevens' goal was a big mistake by their goalkeeper, we were very fortunate that ball went in.

Too friggin arrogant I reckon !!! Because thats not Bucks style, has he ever slated any of his players in public in the past? Each manager has their own way of dealing with players and when you do have so many young players in the squad, you can do more harm than good putting all the blame on them. Not everyone will agree with me, but on the whole I think Bucks says when we were not good enough, says where we went wrong and the lessons that need to be learned by the players. He has to work with all the players and needs them to work with him, slagging players in public would only make that much more difficult to do in my opinion. |
