Another fantastic result (and by all accounts, performance) from Martin Ling's men. The turnaround continues, and Mr Ling's Cambridge-based critics grow quieter by the day. I had my doubts a few games ago, but the way he's established a run and got his players performing is inspirational. Let's hope we get a good 2nd round draw and find our just reward in the 3rd round. With a new stand next year, we could be set up beautifully if things went our way. It could only take one more win for this possibility to be made reality!

I see Howe is putting the run down to team bonding and a touch of paintballing. whatever the squad/ML have done to turn our fortunes around the effect has been sensational. Despite all my years of following the gulls I still get a buzz when we win.Makes all the difference.
Thank you & well done to the players, ML and his staff.

Well, with four straight wins and 12 goals scored then you must be buzzing Milber! We got to the fourth round last year courtesy of two wins over struggling league 1 sides but this was so much better being on the road and scoring a hatful as well and it does make you wonder that with a bit of strenghening whether we could make a go of it in league 1? Probably just as well that we didn't have a replay as we are away to Port Vale on Friday night that week and although our fixture list has so far been light it still is going to take it out of you. This is the one competition that I like to see us do well in and keeps up our record of getting to round 2 over the last seven years which is not bad considering we were in the conference for two of those years. The Chesterfield manager thought we were the better passing team today and he is going to need a turnaround similar to ours to stay in his job for much longer.

quite an extraordinary turnaround in fortunes for us,the reason? i dont think anybody really knows,i am sure if lingy really knew he would bottle it up and sell it.No new signings just all change in attitude and application, quite amazing,we are starting to look pretty good going forward, the confidence is oozing and we are more than capable of keeping this going as long as we stay injury free

Great stuff - I really am not surprised that we went and won there after the last few weeks - Ling and his men have demonstrated 'bouncebackability' in abundance. I don't think Ling will get carried-away by the result, he'll keep their feet on the ground and keep them working - and as they're an honest bunch of pro's then that will suit them just fine.
Looking forward to seeing the highlights and watching the draw. No doubt we'll get a 'crap' one, but I think there will be the belief in the squad to take their game to the likes of Carlisle / Hartlepool / Scunthorpe away and get a result. Whilst I don't expect us to get a result against anyone I am confident we'll give a good account of ourselves.
A big 'well done' to the 255 fans there as well. Big respect to you all for your efforts today.

Well, you're not going to believe what happened, on my way to Northwich in Cheshire and got stuck in traffic just past Chesterfield...what could I do? What a match! Couldn't really see Dannys goal, too far away. Rene's goal was a belter, and Nico's...........an absolute bloody stunner! Chesterfield could and should have scored three or four, and we could and should have scored three or four more. As I said, what a match...it's what the FA Cup is all about!
Anyway, off to bed for me 'cause i'm off to Northwich in Cheshire at 0500 tomorrow...i'll beat the bloody traffic somehow! ;D
As a footnote...how did we get hold of our keeper...he's absolutely bloody brilliant!

I think we should all give some credit to Brian Saah who has rissen above the critcism and puy in some very solid performances. Funny how Ling says that Ellis was awesome and then mentions Saah did o.k!
