The reverse fixture was not one of our better moments on what has been a very good away record this season with Rene seeing red and the team subsequently getting a bit of a thumping at a ground where we are generally poor. It did set the scene as Ling then asked the players to perform at these smaller Northern venues and the rest is as they say history!
Back in December Accrington were on fire and whereas Torquay are a team just as likely to win at home or away, Accrington do seem to struggle on the road a bit. They are stuck in mid table obscurity but have plenty to play for with just two under contract for next year! However, they do have a bit of an injury crisis, particularly in defence. Wigan loanee centre back Rob Kierna and full back Danny Coid are probably both out for the season. Left back Winnard and Centre back Sean Hessey were not fit for the Wimbledon match and could be a doubt for this and coupled with centre back Nsiala serving the final match of a 3 game ban, opportunities could be there.
Despite this crisis, they still won at home against Wimbledon although their manager was not impressed with them not taking their chances! ( A bit like us in the first season of league football! ) Eight points from the last six is mediocre with highs coming from home wins against Wimbledon and Northampton and lows losing at home to Oxford and away to Dagenham!
For the Barnet match I speculated that Jarvis may get a start and although Ling likes his consistently, suspect that Morris may just get the nod over him this time! Otherwise, it should be as we were and hopefully we should have enough for another home win!
