Some were questioning why some of us, myself included, had switched to the pessimism camp of late. This is why

We've run out of puff of late. We've been presented with enough opportunities to stay or get ahead of Crawley. We've not taken them. We don't deserve to go up

I think it will be Billy Bodin who may well come back to haunt us next Saturday.

For me we played all our best stuff during mid season and somehow found ourselves in this position. I have't been convinced for a number of weeks despite hoping we could re-discover some real form and more importantly GOALS from somewhere. Still a slim chance but today told a story and when we needed to dig in and get a result the tank was empty.
Any neutral at our recent games would have gone home amazed at the position we find ourselves in. Not really sure why although I believe we are where we are because of our amazing defence and keeper and it was sure to catch up with us eventually. If you ask me the way we set out to play has been awful to watch of late and I have my doubts that we will even make the final of the play offs and Crewe next week could give us plenty of clues as to our potential for promotion.
Not over yet by a long way but to ease the disappointment we can at least, if we do fall short, look forward to probably six proper derby matches and even a Paul Buckle rematch.

It’s not over yet and we are still very much in the same position as we were before the start of today’s game. I would agree looking at our recent form it’s easy to start to think that we will not gain automatic promotion. But football is and always has been a funny game and nothing is ever decided until the fat lady stops singing.

It hurts that it just happens to be Crawley who only need to win their last two games to go up and leave us facing those nerve racking play-offs, but they do have to win both of them and we do always have the chance of winning our last two games.

Our club does all it can to live with in its means and that does mean we operate with a smaller squad then many other teams and it has been pointed out once the best eleven are out on the pitch, we do not have any match winners on the bench we can bring on.

I really do not know what is better, a team that wins and loses some games and hangs around the mid table all season, or one that sits in a higher place in the table than might be expected, then falls at the last hurdle.

To lose out on promotion for the second season running is unthinkable and would once again leave a good number of fans gutted and very disappointed. What ever happens we must not forget just how big our club is and to even be where we are in the table is in my view a miracle.

A win at home against Crewe and Crawley only getting a draw will make the last game away to Hereford the most nail biting match and one not for the faint hearted, That’s the best we can hope for right now and we will have to wait a whole week to know if the Hereford game will mean anything and just what we have to play for up there.

Keep the faith and keep everything you can crossed, there is still hope and as long as there is we must hold onto it. No fan wants to see another play-off final end in tears and I just have this gut feeling that Crawley will slip up and we go up automatically.

We will have our new stand ready for next season and for the man it is named after we just have to get promoted. Come on boys dig in deep for the next two games, give everything you have and if you do that then you can win those games.
